Being a father to three girls, it’s no surprise that my dad has been exposed to a variety of musical artists. On top of his classic 80’s tunes, he’s also developed a more modern taste in music and explored today’s artists. I asked him to share a few of his favorite songs:

1. “Save Your Tears” by The Weeknd ft. Ariana Grande

Starting off strong, “Save Your Tears” may be my dad’s favorite song from this list. When I asked him why, he replied, “It’s the tune that draws me to this song. I love music from the 80’s, and this song really brings me back.”

2. “Glimpse of Us” by Joji

Hearing this song for the first time was an eye-opening experience for my dad. Since then, he has gone down a spiral of watching covers of this song on Facebook reels. I’ve been trying to convince him to go to a Joji concert with me, even though this may be the only song of his my dad knows.

3. “Style” by Taylor Swift

I have caught my dad humming “Style” around the house on multiple occasions, and he can’t help but sing along when my sister plays this song in the car. My dad shared, “This is my favorite Taylor Swift song. What can I say? It’s really catchy.” Living in a house full of Swifties, I’m not shocked that this song is on the list, but rather proud.

4. “Heartbreak Anniversary” by Giveon

Giveon is a favorite among my parents. They love a number of his songs, but this one in particular is their top pick. My mom likes to say she’s “in her feels” when she listens to Giveon, and I guess she influenced my dad.

There you have it! If my dad had Spotify, I would love to see his yearly Spotify Wrapped. Maybe it would reveal he’s more of a Swiftie than he leads on.
