Brace yourselves, Royals – the AI Revolution is upon us.
AI creations brought about by ChatGPT or AI Imaging systems are becoming more and more advanced per day, to the point where, without detection systems, the average person wouldn’t be able to distinguish between what’s human or programmed. It’s an exciting benchmark for technological advancement, a testament to how advanced and detailed our scientific creations have become, and a terrifying danger to future, non-technological human creations. Who knows, maybe one day our future poetry, novels, and plays will risk eradication once greedy businesses determine they’d rather save a buck with AI than hire a human playwright or composer.
In the face of all this growth, here at the Royal Reporter, a thriving newspaper based off of imagination and genuine human writing, we’ve decided to put student AI detection to the test in a shocking way – comparing AI poetry with poetry written by the esteemed Rosary staff themselves.
Let’s see just how advanced these Advanced AI systems have become – good luck, Royals!
Poetry Pair #1 – Shakespeare and Coffee
One of these poems was a product of Mr. Bevins’ creative mind, and the other a soulless husk of computer programming. Can you tell the difference?
Poem A
In fair Verona, where we lay our scene,
The bard did ponder, words in coffee’s gleam.
His quill danced swiftly, fueled by darkened brew,
A potion potent, stirring thoughts anew.
With every sip, he found his muse’s grace,
In caffeine’s grasp, he sought poetic space.
Thus, ink and coffee intertwined their dance,
As Shakespeare penned his tales of love and chance.
Poem B
Bright morning begins with a sip of thee.
As I sit to write my sonnets many;
Your warm delight making sleepiness flee.
Ideas come but none worth a penny.
Inspiration swirls in my dark cup;
Thoughts arising which cause mine heart to beat.
Mind races, blood boils, heat rises up;
Ah! Emotions captured, caught on a sheet.
Poetry Pair #2 – Christianity
One of these poems was written by an anonymous member of our esteemed Rosary Religion Department, and the other is a fake! Surely ChatGPT can’t articulate human emotion when it comes to faith and Christianity…
Poem A
Warm, rich earth tilled by the Son
The seed rolls and rights itself by
The unseen spirit
The drops of life giving water from above
Unites with the earth and new life
Sprouts forth
Germination; a shoot pushes through
Seeking warmth meets harsh winds,
Man’s created drought
Will the seed thrive, survive, or wither
Die?
The seed decides.
Poem B
In hearts ablaze, faith’s eternal fire,
Christ’s love inspires each soul’s desire.
In everyday life, His grace we find,
Through acts of kindness, His love defined.
In humble service, His call we heed,
In every deed, His love we seed.
For in our actions, His light does glow,
In love and mercy, His truth we show.
With every step, His path we tread,
In words of comfort, souls are fed.
In faith’s embrace, His presence near,
Guiding us through doubt and fear.
Come back in a week for the big reveal on the TRUTH behind each poem pair!
But for now, go from this article with a new perspective on creativity, and remember – don’t let AI take your creative spirit, Royals.

I’d better be right on this or my job is on the line.
