The worst place on earth
This past weekend, I spent four days playing volleyball for a travel tournament. This travel tournament required me to drive to the worst place to ever exist. It’s time we talk about Las Vegas.
One of the major reasons I hate Las Vegas is because of the hotels. Since I have been going to this tournament for the past few years, I have spent my fair share of time at a variety of hotels. These hotels are ranked from best to worst starting with Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand, Luxor, and Excalibur. The Excalibur is quite literally the derriere of the world.
The next thing that stinks about Las Vegas is the sensory overload. You can’t walk two steps without being bombarded by flashing lights and signs. I practically get a headache every time I step out of my hotel room.
Additionally, the casinos are EVERYWHERE. You can’t escape them. The entire 1st floor of almost every hotel is made up of slot machines and card tables. Smoke fills the bottom level and is the perfume of the Strip.
Also, EVERYTHING IS SO EXPENSIVE. It literally cost $12 for me to get chocolate milk and bagel from Starbucks. They charge so much because they can. Las Vegas is TOXIC.
Brooke Kizziar ’22 disagrees with my disdain of Las Vegas saying, “I love Vegas because all of my favorite restaurants are there. I do not like the smell, and I hate how crowded it is, but the food is superior. My dad always wins at the casino, so we use it for shopping or for my favorite restaurant called Sushi Samba.”
Respectfully, Brooke is wrong. The one thing that is fun to do while in Las Vegas is people watching. It gets quite interesting when you see the outfits that some people wear in the casinos. I love to just look to see the kind of people that Vegas draws out.
Other than people watching, Las Vegas is the opposite of Disneyland. It is awful and so not fun. I am petitioning for Las Vegas to be voted off the island.

I completely disagree with this article. I LOVE Vegas. I have to write an article on why I love Vegas. I spent the weekend there and was reminded why this is the best city in the world. IT MAKES YOU FEEL SO ALIVE. I love the smell; I love the people; I love the craziness, and I love the late nights. Lowkey the peak of society.
