Have you ever been scrolling on TikTok and saw an ad for $20 jeans or an assortment of Swedish candy and wanted to buy them? The low prices tend to reel the buyers in, but after talking to a few Royals, their experiences with receiving the packages have not been the best.
So, if you are thinking about buying an item off of TikTok Shop, maybe read this article first. In some cases, our Royals have received their packages, and in others, their card information has been stolen, or their items have failed to come in the mail.
Since I am yet to order off TikTok Shop due to my immense fear of getting scammed, I asked some of our lovely Royals who have experienced the scamming firsthand about their tragedies. Mikayla Hayward ‘26 was quite distraught when asked if she had ever been scammed. She shared, “I made my order a year ago, but my hairbrush is yet to come; I am not sure what truly happened.” Looks like she will never get that $10 hairbrush.
Senior Ava Graham has been (not) so blessed with a similar experience: “I originally bought a mini perfume, but then I also got a hat to get free shipping, and when the package came, it was only the hat.” Poor Ava, the free shipping was not even worth it. At least she won’t get sunburned in this heatwave.
Lauren Marvray ’26 has run into a similar issue with TikTok Shop; her items also never arrived (kind of like a bad blind date). Although she did not stop when the first thing did not come, Lauren went back to order five more times and, welp, she got scammed

After hearing about all these disastrous ordering experiences, I talked to my close friend about it; she is constantly ordering off TikTok Shop and seems to have gotten away unscathed. Well, after further investigation, I was sadly mistaken. Not only did her package not come, but her card information got stolen. At first, she thought that she had lost her card, and someone was using it, but no, it was TikTok Shop.
So, next time you go to buy that dupe for $5 cheaper, think about the consequences that may follow.
