On Tuesday, March 12 a group of seniors and juniors will embark on a four-day-long journey at Kairos 66. Here’s what to know about the retreat.
Kairos is held in Oceanside at Mission San Del Luis Rey, so packing comfortable, warm clothing is ideal. Things like sweatpants, sweatshirts, and comfy clothes will make for a good experience. It is also recommended that you bring your own pillows and blankets. This will make for a homey experience.
Make sure you bring all your toiletries such as shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrush, and any face wash or skin care you might use. Another important thing to bring is a box of snacks that are individually wrapped to share with everyone at Kairos. You will also definitely want to bring a hydro flask or any reusable water bottle so that you can stay hydrated. There are refill water stations at the mission.
Remember to enter into this retreat with an open mind. As normal as it is to feel nervous or even scared, try your best to stay calm. Leave all your worries and outside stressors at home. Kairos is a fulfilling retreat experience that will leave you changed in more ways than one. Your leaders are there to help guide you throughout the entire week.
Last, but most important, do not anticipate, just participate! Throw any prior knowledge or tidbits of info you have heard about Kairos out the window. Stay present in the moment and embrace whatever the week throws at you. With an open mind, you are sure to have an incredible experience.
Kairos will be an unforgettable experience if you just embrace everything that is happening. What you put in is what you will get out, so enjoy yourselves!
