“Lucky girl syndrome” this, “lucky girl syndrome” that. Where is the sympathy for the girls who CANNOT catch a break and must suffer constantly?

If you’re unaware of what lucky girl syndrome is, it is a phenomenon on TikTok where girls tell themselves they are lucky; therefore, good things happen to them.

However, the media seems to sensor the experiences of young women who have crippling “unlucky girl syndrome,” a disease that curses you with bad luck, no matter how hard you try to change your fate.

Sometimes, victims of the disease have the overwhelming feeling that either someone hexed them to suffer forever, or maybe God just has favorites.

As two innocents plagued by this disease, we have both had SEVERAL flare-ups with “unlucky girl syndrome.”

For example, there was the time Emma split her pants in downtown LA, with no change of clothes, and engagement for just a few hours later.

Not to mention her never-ending struggle with styes and general lack of luck.

Or maybe you are like Trista, who every day has to overcome a HUGE quantity of small inconveniences that pile up to be a struggle similar to that of an active warzone.

The effects of living with this disease include but are not limited to: taking constant L’s, spilling at the worst places and times, random body aches, looking absolutely malodorous at school, and having a team of celestial beings just constantly praying on your downfall.

Living with this disease is a challenge. But it is (somewhat) survivable. Like you have a 30/70 percent chance.

Here are a few tips we have picked up along the way:

  1. Laugh about it

No one can tell that you have a Diet Coke can exploded with the ferocity of an atomic bomb in your backpack if you are just giggling and being a silly little girlie.

  1. Take it out on others

Just start yelling. Start swinging. Physically expel the bad luck from your body with every blow you land. Make insults that are DEEPLY personal and damaging.

  1. Rotting sessions are key

It can be exhausting when life passes gas on you, so taking time for yourself is key. Sit on your disgusting, laundry pile/homework space/dining table/bathroom (it happened ONE time)/bed and just scroll through TikTok until the brain won’t brain anymore. Escape the pain. Take a four-hour nap INSTANTLY when you get home. The world can’t hurt you when you are unconscious.

  1. Take a pic

Might as well have something to laugh at or mourn later.

  1. Have a strong support system

There is no one better to take L’s with than your friends. If your friend suffers from “unlucky girl syndrome,” make sure to remind her of it CONSTANTLY and let her know how much better things are going for you.

So pour one out for the unlucky girls. Stay strong, soldiers.
