This past summer, our Royals traveled to some awesome places. I talked to two different Royals about how they dealt with traveling during the pandemic as well as their experiences on their vacation.

Junior Emma Oskorus traveled to Kauai, Hawaii with her entire family this past summer. The Oskorus family does an annual trip to Hawaii, but this was a different experience because of COVID. Since Hawaii has been very strict with COVID protocols, Emma said: “It was very stressful to organize all the paperwork of each COVID test and make sure everyone’s is valid.”

Once in Hawaii, Emma “went to the beach, hiked, snorkeled, and shopped.” Emma added that this trip to Hawaii was one to remember, and she was so grateful she was able to travel with her family.

On the total opposite side of the country, Reagan Beurlein ’23 went to Boston, Massachusetts for her cousin’s wedding.

While she was there, she was also able to explore the city. This was Reagan’s second time in Boston. Her favorite part about this trip was exploring the city and seeing how beautiful it was.

She stated: “I am so blessed I was able to go to Boston even during COVID.” Reagan did not seem to mind traveling during COVID and said nothing was too locked down in Boston.

Even though summer trips were definitely different this year because of COVID, Royals were still able to go to some pretty amazing places.
