The end of the year is here, which means seniors are getting ready to graduate and head to college soon. This fall, Royal Reporter Advisor, Ms. B ‘16 predicted where the Journalism seniors would go to college, and also had each student guess where they would end up. Fall was packed between finishing Common App applications, completing classes and enjoying senior year activities. While some students were sure about their future, many were still figuring out what they wanted to study and where to spend the next four years. It can be really confusing and overwhelming to decide on the college you want, but let’s see where the Journalism seniors are off to.
First, Harper Clark ‘26 starts the seniors off strong and correctly predicted where she’d end up. This is Harper’s first year in Journalism, but she has been a big fan of the Royal Reporter throughout her four years. In the fall, Harper said, “I think I will end up at Indiana University or South Carolina. But I’m gonna say IU as my answer.” It seems like Harper had her heart set on Indiana and will be off to the midwest this fall. Harper served as a copy editor this year, and will be continuing her Journalism skills in the next four years as she majors in Journalism and marketing. Maybe she will even come back and write a guest article for Royal Reporter! A common struggle during college applications is choosing which schools are best for you, so Harper shared a little on why she chose Indiana; she says, “I went and toured Indiana last year after telling my dad I didn’t want to go and fell in love. I never expected to love it as much as I did, but I’m so grateful that I went. The second I stepped foot on campus I knew it was where I wanted to go. They have an amazing business and media school too which is a plus.” This is such a great story and shows sometimes the least expected colleges can be the best fit, so go in with an open mind! We will all miss Harper next year and her trials and tribulations coming up with new captions for each article and every comment she leaves.

Next, another first-year on the Journalism staff, Julia Pinner ‘26 is headed to Chapman University to study writing for film and television. So far, Journalism seniors have been correct in their predictions, because Julia also predicted she would end up at Chapman or South Carolina. Julia serves as a copy editor this year and has been a crucial part of many articles. We are excited to see what she does in the future, maybe all the staff can reunite at one of her movie premieres.
The last senior to join Journalism this year is Mikayla Hayward. Mikayla served as a staff writer during the year, bringing creative article ideas each week to the Royal Reporter. Next year, Mikayla will continue her education at the University of Oregon, majoring in Education. Mikayla has been another great addition to the staff this year, always bringing fun conversation and humor to each class. In the fall, Mikayla predicted she would attend the University of Utah, which unfortunately ends the Royals’ streak, but we are so excited for her future. Go Ducks!

Next up, this was my second year on the Royal Reporter staff, and I couldn’t be more grateful for my time here. During my time, I have been a staff writer and social media manager. In the fall, I predicted I would go to Boston College, which was not quite right. Although I was convinced I would end up in Boston, I moved slightly south and will be attending New York University in the fall. I fell in love with New York the first time I visited and felt at home when I toured the school. For me, I knew I needed to be in a city and New York has everything from sports, late nite and Broadway. It was unexpected to say the least, but truly fit all my interests in one place. At NYU, I will study business marketing and may even join NYU News. I will miss being a part of the Royal Reporter staff , but look forward to reading some articles next year.
One of Journalism’s four-year seniors, Andrea Salazar is headed to Cal State San Jose! On the Royal Reporter, Andrea has served as a staff writer and podcast editor for the Royal Ramble. Although this is different than her prediction of going to CU Boulder from the fall, she is excited to study Philosophy during her time in San Jose. Hopefully you have been able to listen to one of the podcast episodes, and if not you should give it a listen!
Now, onto one of our Co-Editor-in-Chiefs and returning Royal Reporter, Bella Ramirez. This is Bella’s second year serving as Co-Editor-in-Chief and has been a crucial part of Royal Reporter’s success. In the fall, Bella predicted she would attend USD, but I would call this a conservative guess. Ms. B’s prediction rang true for Bella, as she will attend Notre Dame University and major in Business Marketing. If you know Bella, she is super involved, hardworking in her classes, and committed to her faith, so Notre Dame is the perfect fit. Bella’s presence in Journalism will definitely be missed next year- from assigning articles to tirelessly working to edit articles, she has helped shape the Royal Reporter to what it is now.

Finally, our Co-Editor-in-Chief and four-year Journalism staff member, Christina Vaughan. Christina has made a huge impact on Journalism at Rosary and truly kept us afloat each week. Christina is the newest Anteater and will be taking her studies to UCI in the fall, majoring in political science. This does not come as much of a surprise to me, though, because Christina is normally right. Christina correctly predicted in the fall that she would attend UCI and will also join their ROTC program there. In Journalism, whenever there is uncertainty or staff members need some guidance, Christina is the first to answer. Christina has most definitely been in the trenches editing articles, but hopefully, the good memories can balance out the struggles. As Christina’s final piece of advice, she shares, “The college application and acceptance process can be really cruel, but just remember God has a plan for you, and you’re gonna end up where you’re meant to be.” Our Co-Editors-in-Chief have done so much for the Royal Reporter, and we can’t thank them enough for making Journalism the amazing class it is!
Well, the Journalism seniors have all their plans set for next year, and while only some predictions stayed true, we are so proud of their accomplishments. The Royal Reporter will miss having them in class each day, but can’t wait to see what they do in the future.
