Coachella: a multi-weekend festival jam packed with genres of music, fashionable outfits and influencers all there enjoy the desert festivities. Although the event is busy and extremely overpriced it is amazing to see so many people joined together from around the country to appreciate the same music! Lucky for us, many of our Royals have some comments on Coachella and very few actually got the chance to go. Let’s hear what they have to say!
Starting us off strong is senior Dani Gonzalez, who was actually able to attend the first weekend of the festival. When asked about her experience, Dani shares, “Coachella was a 10/10 experience! It was so fun and the vibes were through the roof. I really want to go back because of how hype it was. The best part for me was going to see different artists and just dancing along to their songs with the crowd and definitely seeing Karol G”. Wow Dani, sounds like so much fun! As a follower of Dani’s Instagram, I thoroughly enjoyed all of her posted outfits and musical videos.
Coachella did not just attract our current Royals, but also some of our alumni! From the class of 2021, Marysol Cazarez shared an itemized list of pros and cons of the festival:
“Liked:
• I loved all the options we had to see different artists, so like Wet Leg all the way to David Guetta
• It’s a constant state of entertainment and food was great.
• I think being able to fill time in between the artist with people or bands I never heard of was a super cool.
• I actually went with my fellow royals class of 2021 so that was great to catch up with them too because we all live in different cities
Did not like:
• The walk to exit the festival is about 2 miles with dust entering your airways
• I chose fashion over function and ever step was kind of like walking on glass shards
• Expensive”
That’s great to hear the perspective of a past Royal, especially for those on the fence of maybe attending next year!
Although I am excited for those who got to attend, I must admit I am a bit jealous. And it turns out I am not the only one…

One of our own Royal Reporters, Harper Clark ‘26 was furious when learning that the popular coffee chain, Starbucks, brought back the infamous “Unicorn Frappuccino” from the 2016 era. This popular drink was only served at the festival to give guests a blast from the past white listening to world-wide artist, Justin Bieber, perform his hit song Beauty and the Beat for millions. When asked about the fun drink, Harper voices, “I can’t believe that the drink is only at the festival. You can’t just serve a drink that is influential at Coachella and not bring it back anywhere else. I don’t even care about the artists anymore; I would have just gone for the drink.” Man, Harper sounds pretty upset about that drink! It does bring a decade through back.
While we are in the 2016 mood with the Frappuccino, it is important for me to touch on Bieberchella. As one of his devoted followers, Justin Bieber’s Coachella performance was groundbreaking as he brought back many of his old songs for the multi-weekend event. Playing hit songs such as Baby and That Should Be Me (a personal favorite of mine) while bringing out artists like SZA and Billie Eilish—he truly brought out all the stops. When asked about his set, senior Sophie Figueroa ‘26 shouts, “I don’t care when or where I am, if Justin Bieber goes out with his old music, I WILL BE THERE. I can’t believe I missed Bieberchella. I beat myself up about it every day” I couldn’t agree with you more Sophie, I will be at that concert with you.
What an exciting festival that our Royals experienced whether from the desert or from their coach. I don’t know about you guys, but I will definitely be attending next year.
