Spring break is over and students are back to their very busy lives, especially Rosary and Servite’s Trinitas Performing Arts Program! Over the break, these students worked tirelessly to perfect and pin down their adaptation of “Mary Poppins.” With opening weekend just around the corner, students are anxious to make their show something that their friends, family and teachers are excited to see. Dances are being cleaned and lines are being rehearsed in anticipation of the show.
Apia Sims ’28 is very excited about the impending Mary Poppins musical; she explains how she feels: “The cast and crew of our spring musical, ‘Mary Poppins,’ are working hard to put on the best show we can! We are so excited for people to come and see our hours of singing, dancing and acting finally pay off. Come see the show May 1st-9th!” So much hard work has been put into this musical, and the program can’t wait to share it with everyone.
With the impending performance dates, people have been eager to purchase tickets. “Mary Poppins” will be shown on two separate weekends, so if you are planning to attend, it is recommended to buy your tickets as soon as possible. Many of the thespians in Trinitas have special codes for ticket purchase. So, if you are looking to purchase tickets to watch someone you know perform, I recommend reaching out to ask for their code. Show dates will be May 1 and 2 at 7 p.m., May 3 at 1 p.m. and May 8 and 9 at 7 p.m. You are able to buy tickets for any day on the Trinitas website.

Sophomore thespian JP Cantos shares how he feels about the upcoming show: “I’m looking forward to tech week and having fun with my friends and performing our show that we have been preparing in front of an audience.” Both Servite and Rosary students have been working to make the “Mary Poppins” show magical! A big part of the musical is not only the people who perform in it, but the students who work behind the scenes doing stage tech and props.
Along with the Trinitas program’s final show, this Friday, April 17, is the last Comedy Sportz match! Comedy Sportz is a fun program that is based around improv games and audience participation. Students compete against each other in improv sports matches and you, the audience, get to choose who wins! This interactive and funny performance is something you won’t want to miss, so I recommend attending because this Friday is your last chance see it this year.
Senior Matilda Simmons enthusiastically explains more about Comedy Sportz: “Coming up is our last Comedy Sportz match of the year and the match will celebrate the senior members as they play their last game!” If you are free this weekend, come out and support the students in the Servite theater at 7 p.m. Bring your friends and get ready to have a great time, laughing the night away!
If you would like to join, Comedy Sportz is open to anybody, not just people involved in Trinitas. The team meets on Fridays at Servite to practice from 3:30 p.m.- 6:30 p.m. While they mostly compete against each other, the team also has opportunities to compete against other high schools. Comedy Sportz is an excellent way to step out of your comfort zone and try something new. Don’t forget to buy tickets to both Comedy Sportz and “Mary Poppins” to support your Rosary sisters and Servite brothers!
