Hi Royals, it’s officially time: service hours are due! We have been taking these past few weeks to serve the dear neighbor, and it’s finally time to turn in the hours we have been working on!
Rosary’s upperclasswomen are required to complete ten hours per semester. Campus Ministry and Service Outreach Coordinator, Ms. Pallares, shared why she finds them so important: “Spring service outreach hours give students the opportunity to serve the dear neighbor without distinction. This semester, Royals have chosen to serve at Higher Ground and the Boys & Girls Club, working with elementary students after school; at various convalescent homes, visiting with the elderly; with local food agencies; and through RAD/DASOC/TOP Soccer programs, supporting individuals with special needs. In a conversation, one student shared that serving at St. Francis Elderly Home was so fun that she wanted to go back on her free time. She even suggested the location to friends! Service Outreach is more than volunteer hours; it is an invitation to be the hands and feet of Christ to those who are in need and are marginalized.” All of our service hour options are so amazing.

If you do not complete your hours, you will not be able to attend any senior events, including graduation, so get them in!
This year, senior Ava Ibarra and I decided to go through Higher Ground. It has been so much fun hanging out with the kids. Ava explained, “I have really liked doing my service hours! I love working with kids and being able to play fun games with them.” The kids definitely bring some energy and laughter into our days. Many other Royals chose Higher Ground this year, and some of them even made their service into a habit beyond their required hours. We are truly called to serve!
All in all, I hope you all had a blast completing your hours. As for the juniors, don’t forget to start looking into your fall service hours! You can finish them over the summer if your agency is approved.
