Springtime is here, and so is Kairos 70! Kairos is a religious retreat that Royal Seniors (and Juniors in the spring) have the opportunity to attend. They spend about four days at Mission San Luis Rey in Oceanside to bond with their Rosary sisters and deepen their connection to Christ. I was one of the lucky seniors who had the experience of attending.
We began by leaving from Rosary around 2:20 p.m. Once we arrived, no one was allowed to have their phones. We began each day with Mass and had an amazing time. We also reflected on the talks given by leaders; it was a very emotional and inspiring time.
Attendees thoroughly enjoyed the talks and discussions held during Kairos. Senior Maddie Lambros talked about her time on Kairos: “Kairos was such an incredible experience. I am so fortunate to have been able to empty myself to Christ to be filled with love and faith. Overall, Kairos was moving and showed me that God is present and working in all parts of my life.” I hope this is an experience everyone gets to have while on Kairos.

Student leader Izzy Brule ’26 helped to lead students during the discussions and had spent the previous eight weeks preparing for the Kairos experience for attending students. She said, “It was really great getting to be a leader and having the opportunity to inspire all these girls to grow in their faith. I really enjoyed seeing the girls in my group get comfortable and grow closer to one another.” Thank you so much to all the student leaders who dedicated so much time to Kairos!
English teacher and Kairos leader Ms. Brinegar ’16 also spoke on her experience as a former Kairos attendee: “It was my first time on Kairos since I attended as a student ten years ago. The experience was so different as an adult leader: I think, somehow, I cried more than I did as a retreatant. It was such an incredible experience getting to know students outside of the classroom context, and I found myself relating to them in ways I never expected.” Kairos is truly a changing experience for ALL participants.

The week was filled with so much love, worship and prayer, and although it would be great to share more, if you know one thing about Kairos, it’s the code of confidentiality. All I can say is that it was an amazing experience to share with my fellow Rosary sisters, and I cannot recommend it enough to those who have the opportunity to attend. Ladies, don’t forget to live the fourth!
