This Monday, while Royals enjoyed their Red & Gold holiday, Servite seniors went on a pilgrimage to Christ Cathedral. As a part of their senior year, they took a six and a half mile walk to Christ Cathedral. Even though the heat wave has kept many students inside, it didn’t scare Servite off their pilgrimage!
Typically, a pilgrimage for Catholics means taking a trip to a church, sacred site or other place of religious importance. This doesn’t mean flying somewhere like a vacation; it typically involves long walks to their destination. Catholics take these pilgrimages as a spiritual journey and seek growth in themselves. It is not essential to Catholic faith but, if taken, is an important journey bringing you closer to God. Despite the heat, Servite had a successful pilgrimage to Christ Cathedral with their brothers.
While most students walked on the pilgrimage, the cross-country team decided to run. They definitely got the most out of this experience and put themselves through voluntary suffering this Lenten season. This pilgrimage was an important experience that seniors take every year and builds on Servite’s core values. One senior, Jaden Rasic ‘26 said, “Yes, I did the pilgrimage; it was fun and a cool experience. I got to spend time with my friends. I’m glad I did it.” That’s awesome, sounds like it paid off and was a good experience to share with friends!

Another senior, Travis Fox ‘26 also reviewed that it was “very fun to bond with my brothers for what seemed to be so short on such a long walk to Christ Cathedral, definitely would want to do it again even though it was physically demanding.” Hopefully, there weren’t too many hills on the way there, but it seems like it seemed to go by faster than they thought for some seniors.
Overall, the pilgrimage was a success this year and was one that the Friars will remember! What do you think would happen if we decided to bring this tradition to Rosary? Where would Royals walk to, and would it be the whole school?
