The spring season has begun, and our Royals and Friars are already showing off what they have been working on for this upcoming season. This past weekend, Rosary and Servite competed at Mustang Round Up in Trabuco Hills, where Royals and Friars were state-recognized for their hard work and dedication.
Long jumper Amaya Faison ’26 rebroke her own school record by jumping a 38′ 4.5, finishing first in Varsity Long Jump & Triple Jump. This placement leads her to be recognized as #3 in California & #25 in the US.
As for our sprinters, Sophomores Maliyah Collins, Gabriele Mitchell and Tra’via Flournoy and Freshman Kaylene Shelton all hit a PR in at least one of their events this past weekend or are recognized as some of the top sprinters in California for their events.
Collins ran an 11.77 in the 100m– making her #1 in California– and 24.13 in the 200m, which places her at #2 in California for that event.

Tra’via PR’ed in the 100m with a time of 11.93, placing her at #4 in California. She also PR’ed in the 200m with a time of 24.35, placing her at #5 in California for this event.
Gabriele ran her 400m in 56.86, placing her as #10 in California and PR’d in the 200 with a time of 25.74, putting her at the #4 position for freshmen in California.
Finally, Kaylene Shelton ran a PR in the 100m with a time of 12.55, recognizing her as the #9 freshman in California for her event.
Senior Justine Wilson ran her usual event (the 400m) with a time of 55.49, which is recognized as #1 in California. Wilson described her experience and emotion in all of this: “It really feels good to know that all the hard work has paid off. We are excited for what comes next.”
The infamous 4x100m relay that included Tra’via Flournoy, Justine Wilson, Jada Faison and Maliyah Collins won this event, running a 45.96, which is, yet again, recognized as the #1 time in California and #3 in the US.
Shot put athlete and spectator Ava Graham ’26 said that it is “exciting to see all the girls succeed! They’ve definitely been working hard.” Ava also hit a PR this weekend in shot put and discus. Way to go, Ava!
Additionally, Servite was also recognized for having the fastest time in the 4×100-meter relay for the 2025 season with a time of 40.05 seconds. In this relay, the Friars broke their school record and set a new national-leading time last Saturday, Feb. 28th. Good job, Friars!
Overall, the Royals and their Servite brothers have been running hard and fast, leading the season with a strong breakout. We can’t wait to see what comes up for them next!
