This past Tuesday, Feb. 24, Rosary hosted the Class of 2030 for the Red & Gold Workshop! The event allowed future Royals to get a sneak peek into the Red & Gold process. The evening began with a pizza dinner, allowing the girls to interact with their future classmates. Afterward, White Team introduced themselves alongside current captains Caleigh Steward ’26, Olivia Perez ’27, Heidi Morales ’26 and Liz Mejia ’26. The Class of 2030 got the option of picking from a handful of categories including dance, drill, publicity, fashion and drama.
They then broke off into their categories, eager to get started. Loosely following a few scenes from Gold’s winning script last year, the girls performed their own mini-Red & Gold!
In publicity, they chose a pub theme and created two large posters led by Heidi and Liz. In the same area, the fashion group got to work on a few designs for their very own costumes. Heidi shared, “I had so much fun getting to be with the incoming freshmen. Most of the girls have never seen a Red & Gold, so it was super exciting to get to show them the behind the scenes of what goes on. Especially as a fashion captain this year, I was able to show them how to use creativity to make a costume that fits a dance or drill.”

On one side of the gym, Caleigh taught a piece of her drill from last year, showing girls what it would be like to be a Royal during Flex. Caleigh is confident that these future Royals are ready to take on the big stage: “The incoming freshmen are naturals, and I’m so excited to see what they contribute to the show next year. The workshop is a great way to get a feel of Red & Gold and to understand how important it is to play your role for your team. With this small experience under their belts, I have no doubt that these girls will put their all into the beloved tradition of Red & Gold.”
On the other side, Olivia counted the steps to her dance from last year and explained, “It was so fun teaching future Royals what the Red & Gold process looks like. I would highly recommend this event for incoming freshmen interested in getting to know the Red & Gold process.” As the drill and dance girls learned their moves, drama was busy running lines.

The amazing actors, guided by Sophie Figueroa ’26, Lexie Curtis ’27, Siena Ruszak ’26 and Bella Ramirez ’26, reenacted the part about Bigfoot, complete with a chase scene, a hilarious audition and emotional nostalgia.
In just one hour, the Class of 2030 was ready to put it all together and perform for their parents. They definitely brought the energy from the opening scene to the final bow. I think it’s safe to say that these future Royals are prepared for their first official Red & Gold next year!
