The Red Cross Blood Drive is on Friday, Feb. 27 in the Karcher Center and will take place from 7:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. This blood drive is crucial and an opportunity to support our community. This makes a huge difference in many lives and provides the life-saving care patients require. This month is also American Heart Month, so this is the perfect opportunity to honor that and help others in need.
Our Science Department Chair and Teacher, Dr. Parmar, shared how big of a difference the blood drive makes: “The blood drive is a great way to serve the dear neighbor without distinction in a very meaningful way. It’s an action that has such a great impact but is comparatively easy to do. For the most part, you just sit there and yet each donation can save up to three lives! Anyone aged 16 or older can participate. And if you’re not old enough or are not able to give blood for some other reason, consider asking someone else (not another student) to donate on your behalf! You’ll have the satisfaction of knowing you made the world a little better for someone who really needed it. Donors can sign up on redcrossblood.org with sponsor code: Rosary.”
Blood donors will receive a $20 e-gift card and Red & Gold points. Red & Gold captains are making sure that girls from their team are donating to earn those much-needed points. In order to donate make sure to pick up a permission slip from any science classroom or the front office. When you finish filling them out return the slip to Dr. Parmar in room 3.
Izzy Casillas ’28 is planning on donating and shared why this is so important to her: “I love the opportunity to get to participate in the blood drive because I lets me give back to my community as a teenager in a way that can have a huge impact and actually save lives.” Being able to do something this impactful at a young age is a great experience and opportunity.
