Happy Catholic Schools Week, Royals. This year’s theme is “Catholic Schools: United in Faith and Community” which highlights how connected we need to be through our faith. This week provides an opportunity for all Catholic schools to reflect on the value of Catholic education and our overall mission. Before Red & Gold Kickoff this Friday, this week is the perfect opportunity to remember our faith and connect with our community.
On Tuesday and Thursday this week, in Honor of Catholic Schools Week, the Royals get spirit dress. We are allowed to wear jeans with a Servite/Rosary sweatshirt or shirt. On Wednesday, students must wear formal uniform for when the school comes together at FLEX to pray the rosary. Prayer, especially to our Mother Mary, is a great way for our school to come together and grow our faith.
Sophomore Emilia Cantos shared why she loves Catholic Schools Week: “I love Catholic Schools Week because it gives us a chance to celebrate the Catholic education that we are so fortunate to have. I am so grateful to have a Catholic education, and with it, I have grown so much in my faith.”
Let’s look into the history of Catholic Schools Week. CSW has been celebrated annually since 1974 to promote the importance of the Catholic Education through various themes and activities. For many years, CSW has served to inspire pride and unity among families, educators and students across the nation. CSW also coincides with the feast days of St. Thomas Aquinas and St. John Bosco– both significant saints connected to Catholic education. Lucy Delgado ’28 shared why she thinks having a Catholic education is important: “Catholic schools are important because they keep us rooted in our faith and connected to God.”

Each day this week is for something new to be celebrated. Sunday is for celebrating your parish, Monday for community, Tuesday for students, Wednesday for your nation, Thursday for your vocations, Friday for faculty, staff and volunteers and lastly, Saturday for your families. Keep these intentions in your mind and prayers each day this week.
In all, Catholic Schools Week is very important to not only the Rosary community but the entire Catholic school community. Our Catholic education is so influential to high school students especially and can really impact our life. So, always be grateful to have this wonderful education because that is something many don’t get. Have a blessed week, Royals!
