This past Saturday, Jan. 14 was a day that many Royals and Friars had looked forward to since Homecoming. Winter Formal was this past weekend. This year’s theme was “A Flight to Remember,” and the dance took place at Fullerton Airport, Hangar 21, from 7-10 p.m. All last week, Royals were gearing up to debut their fabulous floor-length dresses, so roll out the red carpet – let’s review WOFO 2025’s best looks.

Senior Miabella Baeza was excited for her last Winter Formal at Rosary, so she picked a dress that would help her to go out with a bang. “I always love picking out dresses for dances, so I knew that for senior year, I wanted to choose wisely. From the color to the cut, I honestly had no idea what I wanted to do for it. I picked my dress out very last minute, waiting until a week before (I love two-day shipping). I decided on this dress because I’ve never done a patterned dress for a dance, and I felt this was very unique and I love the colors.” Personally, I love this dress. It is a late 2000s-style dress (cape included), and, to me, it’s giving J-Lo. Nice choice, Miabella!

Unfortunately, Addie Hansen ‘26 had some roadblocks in her dress search path. Addie shared, “I was scrolling on Pinterest for a dress, and I saw one that was super cute, so I just clicked on the link. When I looked to see what the website was, I saw ‘In the Sky,’ assuming it was Lucy in the Sky, so I decided to order it.” Addie continued, “Yesterday I was getting a little stressed, because my dress still hadn’t arrived, so I went to look, and it turned out I ordered from a random website called ‘Lulu in the Sky.’ A complete scam! The website was exactly identical to Lucy in the Sky’s website; it now makes sense why my dress was so cheap.” Poor Addie. Please be careful out there, Royals; the last thing that any of us need in the middle of the year is to get scammed. Regardless of the cruel way in which it scammed Addie, this is such a cute dress – sort of like one of Marilyn Monroe’s signature wobble dresses.

Another senior, Michaela Watson, was so excited to match her dress to the winter theme: “I love getting dressed up and going to dances! This WOFO, I wore a plum ruffle dress, and it worked perfectly with the winter tones and vibes everyone was bringing this year!” Visions of sugar plums did dance in the heads of WOFO attendees, thanks to Michaela’s beautiful dress.
Many of our own Royal Reporters were in attendance, too. Luna Romero ’28 got to debut the dress that she called her favorite dress ever. “I absolutely loved my dress. It was from Lucy in the Sky, which is one of my favorite places to get dresses from because it is affordable and adorable.” Luna continued, “It did have a slit that I had to sew closed due to dress code restrictions; however, I think it was my favorite dress I’ve ever worn to a dance, and a lot of people complimented it, which just made me feel even better.” I agree with Luna: her dress is adorable; it’s very “Speak Now.” If this is not an advertisement for Lucy in the Sky, I am not sure what is. Harper Clark ’26 had some dress difficulties prior to Winter Formal:

“Buying a dress this year was one of the most difficult experiences of my life. I planned on wearing pink and bought about 10 pink dresses, all for them to be either ugly, see through or not fit. It was truly depressing and I had to end up wearing a black dress.” This does sound like a difficult situation, but Harper’s black dress was still really cute.
Overall, Winter Formal 2025 had some great looks. It is always fun to see how Royals express themselves outside of school, and dances are the perfect way for them to show off their styles. Struggles with dresses aside, I think that all Royals will agree that this WOFO was truly a “flight to remember.”
