Royals have been busy catching up on all the new movies and TV shows from this holiday season, and shared with me some of their favorites! From Thanksgiving to Christmas, there are always the routine drop of many new movies, which also come to be featured in award shows. Recently, this past Sunday, the Golden Globes were hosted in Los Angeles, which also shared more on some of the recent entertainment that has released. Here’s what Royals said they have been catching up on:
“The Pitt” recently came back to premiere the first episode of season two and also won a few awards this past weekend. If you love medical shows, “The Pitt” is one of the more realistic versions of medicine and stars Noah Wyle from the original “ER” TV show. This show follows an ER room’s full shift at a hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, through each episode featuring an hour of the shift.
Aurora Ortuno ‘26 shared her love for the show, saying, “I only started watching ‘The Pitt’ because of my brother, and he told me it was the most realistic doctor TV series. I thought it would be boring… We binged the entire series in one day. It’s actually so interesting, especially since medicine fascinates me. So I definitely recommend it if you’re into medicine or just like chaos!” Season one was definitely full of chaotic moments, so be sure to give “The Pitt” a try.

Next, I’m sure everyone has either heard of “Marty Supreme” from celebrities wearing their viral jackets or Timothee Chalamet’s press tour, but have you watched the movie yet? Senior Savannah Mostero has and shared her review of it. Savannah said, “It wasn’t my favorite movie because after an hour and a half in, I felt like the plot was just all about ping pong, and I unfortunately got bored. I did enjoy the drama that went along with it, though. I’m into drama-filler movies and shows, so I knew going into the movie theatre it wasn’t going to be my top pick of a movie, but the drama-filled part definitely made this movie enjoyable.” As you may know, this movie is focused on Marty Mauser chasing his dream to be a ping pong champion. It definitely may only attract a niche audience, but I think it can be enjoyed by many once given the chance.
Another TV show that has just ended its wildly popular run is “Stranger Things.” They just released the season finale, and it has left many fans feeling unsatisfied and feeling it was not the way to end the show’s remarkable five-run season. Although I have not had the chance to watch the controversial last season, many Royals have, and Bella Vallejo ‘26 shared her thoughts with me. Bella shared, “well I only watched the finale, but it was seriously some good stuff and really got me hooked on the show. [SPOILER ALERT!] Not to brag, but I said Eleven was going to die, and boom, she did, and I said it was going to be not real.” While the finale was a disappointment to many, at least Bella can say she correctly predicted what would happen!
If you are like many fans, you probably agree with what Bella said, “I’m def on the conspiracy side, and I think they have another episode.” Well, maybe they will listen to fans and give them the ending they deserve!
There have been too many movies and TV shows that have recently come out to discuss them all, so I will give some honorable mentions. “Hamnet” has already been very popular this awards season and tells the story of Shakespeare and his wife’s grief over their son Hamnet. Another movie that several Royals have watched is “Zootopia 2”. This movie is a fun watch and explores how the new character, a snake, changes things in Zootopia. Lastly, another new TV show that has gained much popularity is “All Her Fault.” This thriller features actresses like Sarah Snook and Dakota Fanning to investigate a mom’s missing child and reveals many of the family’s twisted secrets.
Although there are many more movies and TV shows to list, Royals have found these to be captivating. So during this long weekend, if you find yourself needing to watch something new or take a break from another show, give one of these options a try!
