The Rosary Wrestling team is comprised of three strong Royals, and each one brings a new perspective to the mat. Let’s meet our amazing wrestling trio!
Sophomore Gabrielle Hermosillo has been wonderfully successful this season, sharing, “So far, I have won all my league matches.” Way to go, Gabrielle! She also explained that another highlight of her wrestling experience has been the unexpected bonds that come out of the sportsmanship. Gabrielle has bonded with many girls, making lifelong connections over the past year and a half. This season, she hopes to qualify for CIF (again) and expand the program. If you have not found a sport you like, give wrestling a try!
Next up, Abby Chu ’29 is a seven-year Jiu Jitsu master, so joining the wrestling team seems like a natural fit. She has definitely shown up, placing in the top five at the Santa Ana Girls JV Tournament. This accomplished one of her goals this season of placing at a tournament, so we hope she will continue doing well both in single matches and tournaments. This year is Abby’s first year on the wrestling team, and she loves being on “our small, tight-knit team.”

Lastly, freshman Isabella Vasquez began wrestling this school year and has been learning a lot! She treats her sport as a way to release any anger she might have. Many sports work as a kind of therapy for athletes. Isabella looks forward to winning more matches and continuing to be a great member of the team.
These Royals went head-to-head (literally) against Portola this past Wednesday at Laguna Beach, and the team has qualifiers for CIF later in January. Make sure to go out and support our amazing Royal wrestlers!
