Rosary’s Water Polo team is making a splash as they head into league! The water polo team is looking forward to another incredibly successful season, as they made it to the first round of playoffs for Division One last year, and were Division Four champions two seasons ago.
In their preseason, the team swam away with four wins against La Canada, Glendale, La Habra and Paloma Valley. Captain Emma Aljurdi ‘26 is looking forward to a great season: “I’m excited for all the team bonding moments we get and to develop our team chemistry as the season goes on. As I step into my last season, I’m going to cherish all the moments I get with the younger players!”
The team lost its first league game to Laguna Beach on Tuesday, Jan. 6. But on Wednesday, Jan. 7, they turned it around with a 10-7 win over Irvine High School.

Olivia O’Day ‘26 speaks to how the team prepared for their upcoming schedule, saying, “We’ve had practices all throughout break and lots of preseason games so our new teammates can gain experience.” Many players on the water polo team stay prepared year-round by playing both high school and club water polo with head coach Gabriel Martinez.
We are so excited to follow the water polo team this year! Support them at their upcoming game on Friday, Jan. 9, against Los Altos at 6 p.m as part of the Troy Winter Classic tournament at Troy High School.
