Dance competition season is here! This Saturday, Dec 13, the Rosary dance team is attending their first competition at Sonora High School. The competition is called U.S. Spirit Leaders and will be a full day of dancing. The dance season started back in April with auditions, hours of summer practices, camps and weekends of choreography in August and September. From early morning practices, football season, rally performances and workout Wednesdays, both JV and Varsity are ready to take the floor.
Both teams have already performed at the Winter Sports Rally to help gain confidence while performing in front of an audience. The Rosary community was very proud of each dancer’s performance and it only made them more excited for this season. See below for the details on how the competition will go:

JV Pom: 2:40 p.m.
Varsity Pom: 4:40 p.m.
JV Jazz: 5:45 p.m.
Varsity Jazz: 7:30 p.m.
Awards: 7:45 p.m.

This will be the Rosary dance teams’ only competition in December, but when the new year starts, competition season will resume right away. They will continue competing every weekend in January until they get on a plane for Florida. In Florida, this team will compete against many teams around the country. Co-Captain Ava Ibarra ’26 is very excited to perform at her last first competition: “I’m super excited to perform this weekend and debut our routines! We have put in so much work, and we are so prepared to take the floor this weekend. I can’t wait to see what this season has in store for us!” Everyone on the team is so ready to get spray tans every weekend in the middle of winter. Many non-dance team members will wonder what sun they are using.
Unlike other sports, dance only gets 2 minutes to show what they’ve got. They will feel the pressure that day, but no matter what, we are so proud of each dancer on this team! JV Co-Captain Madeline Lawrence ’26 shares, “I am so proud of how far this team has come. Looking back at us in August, you can see a major improvement.” This is only the beginning, and we can’t wait to see how this season goes. Congrats RADT!
