These past couple of months, Rosary and Servite Trinitas members have been working on their first play of the year, “Our Town.” Senior Actress and Thespian Sami DiCrisi gave us her experience working on this play and why it’s so special to her.
DiCrisi has been involved in Rosary and Servite’s Trinitas since her freshman year and is playing the role of Ms. Gibb in Our Town.
Sami describes the play as, “all around meaningful. It does exactly what it needs to communicate what it wants, and there is so much rich subtext in it that it is impossible not to be warmed by it. 10/10 Thornton Wilder.”
When questioned on what she loves most about working on this production, she said: “I love the people and the honesty the most, I think. I’m not sure you can do this show without just being fully yourself, which is a scary thing to do, especially with an audience. But working with this cast, crew and directors, telling this story is nothing but a joy, and I am so grateful for it.”
DiCrisi also exclaimed her excitement for “people to see the third act the most, because with the build-up of the others to precede it, I fear it is devastating. I need you all to come watch it and love it.” I wonder what the plot twist is!
When asked why this play was so special to her, Sami said, “This play is special to me because it’s a story about just being a human being. Every day I come to rehearsal, and I am reminded of why I love theatre itself, but also the wonder of just living. There’s nothing better.” Sometimes it’s good to have that reminder.
Her final remarks on the topic were to “Come see it if you can. I promise you: you will not regret it.” You heard her, get those tickets! Sami definitely seems to have had an amazing time working on this production with her Trinitas family. I hope everyone has a chance to go see it.
