This past Monday marked the beginning of Homecoming week. With lots of energy and anticipation Royals prepare for Homecoming with spirit dress. Throughout the week, our Royals wore all types of outfits, from jerseys to Red and Gold spirit dress, and twinning to dressing like actual royalty. We will be deciding who wore it best!
To start the week off, Monday was jersey day and these Royals knocked it out of the park. Students and faculty alike were encouraged to show up in their favorite team jersey! So, Senior Christina Vaughan and English teacher Ms. B ’16 arrived in their opposing team jerseys, Manchester City and Manchester United. Many other girls showed up in opposing teams, causing lighthearted tension on the Rosary campus and filling the girls with even more love for their favorite teams. Some of the teams that were the most seen were the Angels, Dodgers, and Servite!
On Tuesday, the Royals dressed up and dressed out. Seniors and sophomores wore red, while the juniors and freshmen wore gold. Unfortunately, nobody could wear costumes due to the Eucharistic Procession, but the girls still did a great job of dressing in their sanctioned colors with jeans. I bet people driving by were blinded by the sea of red and gold as the girls prayed the Rosary. What a fun way to celebrate two of our favorite things on campus, Red and Gold and our faith!
Wednesday was filled with princes, princesses and queens! However, one queen stood out above the rest. Natalie Houshan ’27 was definitely best dressed in her queen costume at the Homecoming rally. When asked about her outfit, she said her favorite part of the costume was the cape “because it made me feel very powerful throughout the day”. She embraced her character of a queen very well and even said, “I felt that the queen energy was brought forward in the rally despite me not winning any of the games.” Don’t worry, Natalie, you won best dressed in our hearts!

On Thursday, there was no special dress due to testing, but the freshmen, sophomores and juniors did a great job of wearing their uniforms and lanyards.
Friday brought double trouble because everyone was twining! Now this may be biased, but best dressed must go to Melissa Lopez ’28 and me, Luna Romero ’28! Our costume was a reference to “Hamilton.” We love all things theater and musical. Our favorite thing to do is sing to soundtracks for hours in each other’s rooms! So, it was only appropriate that we do something from Hamilton for Twin Day.

Melissa thinks we were best dressed because “It’s not only clever and creative, simple but effective, but it has built in humor and it’s perfect for recreating the hilarious punchline A.Ham and A.Burr”. Then she skipped off, singing “Obedient Servant” (what a little theater kid). To add, some teachers even participated by wearing similar or opposite outfits, what a great way to spread some school spirit!
Let us know what you think our spirit days should be for HOCO next year in the comments!
