For five days a week, Monday through Friday, students get to see their teachers at school. When the school day ends, students go to sports practices, the theater at Servite or home to work on homework, but have you ever wondered what teachers do after school? Most would believe teachers go home to grade homework and get prepared for the days ahead. Though that would be true, teachers have fun and exciting plans right when they leave campus. Teachers provided information about their day after school and what they spend the rest of their day doing.
Religion teacher Mrs. Flati provided valuable insight into her after-school plans: “I run to pick up my kids from school at St. Juliana’s.”

Dean Burboa states how she spends her time after school: “After school, my time is spent at practice with my amazing dance girls, then I head home to my family, where we finish up their after-school activities, get homework done, have dinner, relax, and get ready for the next day!” Sounds like she has exciting plans each day.
If I had to guess what the teachers spend their time doing after school, I would guess they all carpool to Joe’s Italian Ice to grab a sweet treat. The history department would explain the history of Joe’s while they all wait in the long line.
Mrs. LeClair shared what she spends her afternoons and nights doing: “After the school day ends, I listen to the ‘Hamilton’ soundtrack or a true crime podcast as I drive home. I should stop at the gym, but I usually just drive right past it. Once I get home, I cuddle up on the couch with my dog, Moose, while my husband makes us dinner. I usually try to talk him out of cooking and suggest we get In-N-Out instead, but he has more self-control than I do, so we unfortunately eat dinner at home. Then, we binge-watch a TV show; right now, it’s the new season of ‘Love is Blind.’ Finally, I fall asleep on the couch by 8 p.m. because I am a 90-year-old woman.” What fun and relaxing plans Mrs. LeClair has!

Teachers have the best after-school plans. It’s fun to understand what teachers spend their time doing outside of school. Thank you to all the teachers who shared their insights into their plans. This is your sign to stop by any classroom and ask your teachers about their plans, you might have some after-school activities in common!
