What could our Homecoming theme possibly be?

With the incoming fall season comes all our favorite autumn events. This semester, we’re all looking forward to attending football games and Rosary Day, but we can’t deny that Homecoming is one of the most highly anticipated events of the school year. And now that this beloved dance is right around the corner, let’s go over some of our potential themes. But, as you read this article, please keep in mind that these themes are solely provided for comedic purposes. In no world would we expect to see these ideas actually adopted…I hope.

Beginning with my personal favorite, a Shrek-themed Homecoming is sure to be a massive hit. Imagine this: Servite’s quad is decorated to mimic Shrek’s swamp. Above us, an animatronic fire-breathing dragon soars for all to see. And, most importantly, the teachers are dressed as each character in Shrek’s gang. Maybe it’s just me, but I can totally see Mr. Faubl as the Gingerbread Man!

Next up, with their recent hype from the newly-released “Despicable Me 4,” I believe every student would adore a Minion theme. With their spectacular singing voices and impeccable moves, it would be hard to steal their spotlight! Of course, it would be required that each Servite boy wear the iconic Minions glasses and overalls.

Keeping up with the movie-themed ideas, how cool would a “Transformers” Homecoming be? It seems as if this would be every Friar’s dream: to dance the night away among Optimus Prime, Megatron, and Bumblebee. There is no doubt these robots can break it down on the dance floor!

Now, enough of my ideas. Let’s see what a couple other Royals think about our 2024 Homecoming theme!

Senior Kate Piper suggested a Donatella VERSACE theme (with a purple heart emoji at the end).

I’m not sure how we would do that, but it’s a great idea nonetheless!

Seniors Jeslynn Abobo and Marissa Perez creatively proposed a Cars-themed Homecoming.

Wow, what a great idea! I wish I had thought of that.

As hilarious as these themes may be, I am certain that whatever this year’s Homecoming theme is will be a major hit. While we may not be expecting fire-breathing dragons or dancing robots, there is no doubt our administration will put on the best dance yet!
