As the 2024-2025 school year continues, we get to hear more about the amazing things Rosary Alumnae have been up to in college. This past week, Paige Sorensen ‘24 received the exciting news that she made the Michigan State University rowing team!
Paige was initially planning on running for MSU’s Track and Field team, but ended up choosing a different path when she heard the rowing team was holding tryouts.
Tryouts lasted a week and included intense testing and workouts. She had to run, swim and, of course, row. This sport is no easy task. Paige shared, “It is very mentally and physically taxing, especially when you are sitting in a seat for hours on end in the middle of a river.”
However, she never gave up, no matter how hard the training was. Paige was ecstatic when she found out that she made the team and cannot wait for the season to start. She is now a D1 athlete in the Big Ten!
Paige serves as a great role model and reminder that we may never know where we will end up. She leaves us with this advice: “There are a lot of scholarships open for women’s rowing, and I encourage everyone to give it a try!”
