Rosary’s volleyball team is very competitive and a favorite sport among many Royals. It comes as no surprise that these volleyball fans were very excited for the playoffs, which happened this past week. The volleyball team, who were Pacific Coast League champions, participated in the playoffs on Tuesday, Oct. 21. Now that their 2025 season has come to a close, let’s take a look at what it looked like for them.
This season, the team played 33 matches against a number of teams, including Saint Joseph High School, Los Alamitos High School, Yorba Linda High School, Sage Hill and St. Margaret’s Episcopal School. Out of those 33 matches, they won 23 of them, making their record 23-10. Because they play in the Pacific Coast League, the teams tend to be very competitive, but the Royals fought hard and played their best: they won the league championship for the second year in a row.

After working so hard at their practices and in their matches, the team qualified for the playoffs against Rancho Christian. Rancho Christian, a high school in Temecula, earned their respective league championship for the 2025 season and the top seed for Division 2 CIF playoffs. While the Royals did not secure a playoff win, they were successful in so many other ways: the match was difficult, but the Royals had many great plays, kept their strength up the whole time and ended up taking the match to five sets. Libero Savannah Mostero ’26 was the Rosary’s Player of the Match. It was a fantastic playoff match, despite the unfortunate outcome, and now the volleyball Royals can look forward to some much-needed time off and remember what a good note their season ended on.
The team captains for the 2025 season were seniors Delilah Moos, Madeline Lambros and Kate Duarte. These three captains have encouraged numerous players to always do their best and have also encouraged sisterhood within the sport.
Junior Abby Vargas has learned so much from being on the volleyball team and has loved every minute of playing with her teammates. “Being on the volleyball team has really helped me grow as a person and in helping me come outside of my shell. It has really made me feel so much more welcome into the Rosary community and it’s left me with some amazing memories as well,” Vargas shares some of her favorite memories from the season, saying, “Some of my favorite moments of the season are when we had a team bonding at one of our teammates houses, and when we had our Whittier tournament where we got second place in the gold bracket.” It sounds like the team really strengthened their bonds this season and worked so hard.
One of Vargas’ teammates, junior Mariella Tran, also gained a lot from her time on the volleyball team. “This volleyball season has been so fun since I got to spend so much time with my sisters. Being on the team helped me to create new friendships and deepen my connection with my friends!” Tran says, “I loved the team’s energy and support for each other.” A supportive team is always the best team to be on.
Congratulations on a great volleyball season, Royals! We can’t wait to see you back on the court next fall!
