In the middle of each semester, senior students travel to San Diego on a four-day trip called Kairos. Kairos is a religious retreat that positively affects students by helping them get closer in their relationship with God, forging friendships that they will continue throughout the school year and creating memories that students will cherish forever.
This semester, Kairos takes place Oct. 21-Oct. 24. Seniors left on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m., leaving some of their classmates at school with many questions about what Kairos truly is. The non-Kairos seniors continued their lifestyle with sports practices, hangouts with friends and getting caught up on work. Since the Kairos seniors can’t use their phones, it’s time to update them on everything that happened during the week they were gone.

Senior Jaclyn Gonzalez shares what her plans are while some seniors are away for Kairos: “On Tuesday and Thursday, I have Mock Trial. Very excited for this week!”
Caleigh Steward ’26 reflects on her week and what she intended on doing, sharing, “This week, I had track practice from 3:45-6:30 p.m. each day. On Wednesday, we have office hours, so this is a time for me to catch up and get my work done. They missed a potluck that I enjoyed very much! I can’t wait to see all my friends at the football game so we can catch up on what we missed with each other’s lives.”
Without their phones, Kairos attendees missed some pop culture moments that were happening as they were on their retreat. Here is what you missed when you weren’t chronically online.
On Oct. 21, “Dancing With The Stars” aired its sixth episode of the season. The theme this week was “Wicked.” Sadly, Rylee Arnold and Scott Hoying were eliminated from the competition. I was so sad to see them go, and sorry to break the news.

This week, a new viral trend has appeared on our screens: Group 7 has become well-known, but it is very confusing to some people. The trend started as a “science experiment” created by American Idol alum Sophia James. Go search up on TikTok for more details.
Teachers who didn’t attend Kairos are still working hard. Learning Strategies Teacher and Assistant Athletic Director, Mr. Aragon, focused on the teams he coaches: basketball and flag football.
For the first time, classes have been super empty. I walked into my government class yesterday, and only 9 girls were in attendance. Usually, that class consists of 20+ people. We all miss you and can’t wait to see you next week in the classrooms.
The next Kairos retreat seniors have the opportunity to attend is in the spring, during the week of March 24-27. Many students and teachers would recommend using this opportunity to grow relationships with new people and with God.
It seems like each senior at Rosary had an eventful week! Hopefully, this article gave you an update about everything you missed while you were gone for four days. We hope you had an amazing time, but don’t share too much! Remember, what happens at Kairos, stays at Kairos.
