‘Twas the night before Oct. 14, when all through OC, our Rosary Royals were waiting for the weather to get cozy. The fumes of wet asphalt fill the air as the leaves start to fall, and the trees grow bare. News flash, Royals, fall has begun, and our first big day of rain was upon us this Tuesday. Whether it could be a change in weather or God is crying tears of joy, it is definitely time to whip out the Rosary parkas and Starbucks hot chocolates. Many of our girls have differing opinions on precipitation during the fall season, so let’s hear what some of them have to say.
The majority of Rosary’s campus is made up of fluffy sock, pumpkin spice latte lovers who can not wait for the weather to cool. The enthusiastic girls who live for the chilling breeze and cannot wait to pull out their three dozen knitted sweater collection–no judgment here! One of these very people is senior Sophie Figueroa. When asked what the perfect way to spend a rainy day she shared, “There are a few things that would make up a perfect rainy day. You need a hot chocolate, a crackling fireplace, a hot chocolate and a rom-com. Personally, I like ’10 Things I Hate About You.’” She also shares, “My favorite part of a Rosary rainy day is driving to school in the morning. My seat heater is on, fall music is queued, and I love the sound of the rain on my windshield.” Could not agree more, Sophie! I am on the same page as the words of Phyllis from the “The Office”: a rainy day just makes me want to curl up with a good book.
Although most people love a rainy Rosary school day, some people would plan to spend their rainy days in other ways. Our AP English Literature teacher, Mrs. Tracy, shares, “I love the rain, don’t get me wrong, but Rosary is not where I would want to be. People drive a lot worse in the rain, and I would rather be home, cozy up in bed. Additionally, the hallways can get kind of crazy and flooded, making it harder to get around. Nothing beats the feeling of waking up to rain and making breakfast.” Mrs. Tracy, you might be on to something with this statement. Sometimes rain must be enjoyed from our cozy blankets and bed sheets (somewhere I wish I were right now).

After discussing with many upperclassmen drivers on campus, Royal motorists have unanimously agreed that the worst part of a rainy Rosary day is the lengthy uphill expedition from the back parking lot to Rosary Campus.
Senior Siena Ruszak ‘26 explains, “I was drenched from head to toe all because I forgot my lanyard in my car. After walking up and back, it looked like I tried to take a shower in my uniform! I was cold and soggy for the rest of the day.” Yikes, sounds pretty rough. Maybe someone should have brought an umbrella or purchased a Rosary Academy parka that can be found on https://shoprosaryonline.com/.
Because of our location in the United States, rain can be pretty hard to come by, so it seems our Royals are extremely excited for this weather to get us out of the heat and to close the summer season. Let us pray for a fall and winter full of cozy mornings and fleece-lined tights for mass. I myself need to restock on leggings and fuzzy socks to wear with my uniform. I cannot wait to see what the rainy season has in store this year!
