This past Monday, Royals gathered with their grandparents in the Karcher Center for Grandparents’ Day Mass in the morning. After Mass, the grandparents and students were treated to a lovely breakfast on the lawn where they enjoyed each other’s company.
Before the event, ASB took the time to make beautiful posters expressing our love and gratitude for our grandparents. In the quad, tables were set up for grandparents to purchase any Rosary-themed merchandise. Rosary grandparents are very generous and always jump at any opportunity to get gifts for their grandchildren, so these tables were perfect for this special day.
Senior Diana Penaloza spent the morning with her grandmas at Grandparents’ Day Mass. She shared, “I enjoyed this morning with my grandmas because I got to see one of them that I don’t see very often. We got to share our love for God by attending Mass together while also having a fun and loving time at breakfast.” It seems like this was the perfect opportunity to foster love and faith for Diana and her grandparents.

Lyla Garza ’27 and her sister, Madison Garza ’28, were able to spend valuable time with their grandparents on this special day. Many of our grandparents have had a profound impact on our lives. Lyla explained why this Mass and breakfast were so meaningful for her: “I love my grandparents so much. They’ve always helped me and been there for me, so spending time with them is really important to me.” It can mean a lot for grandparents, too. I’m sure they love spending time with us as much as we do.

Lastly, Brigid LeVecke ’27 shares her own perspective on Grandparents’ Day, saying, “My favorite part about Grandparents’ Day was just spending quality time with them. Since it’s my senior year, I really wanted them to know how much I love and appreciate them. Just sitting in their presence makes me feel ten times closer to them.” Brigid, like many of us, feels blessed to be able to share heartfelt moments like this with her grandparents, especially as she continues to grow up. Many of our grandmas and grandpas have been in our lives since we were born, so showing them the same love they have shown us since we were kids is truly a blessing.
In case your grandparents couldn’t make it to this event, consider calling them or texting them because moments like these really matter to them. Hopefully, everyone had a grand time at this year’s Grandparents’ Day!
