In typical fall fashion, our Rosary Royals gear up for Servite’s Friday night football games. But wait, how will our Royals really “gear up” for this week’s theme presented by our Friar brothers? This week’s theme, drum roll please, is……. FRAT! But woah, woah, woah, how could a Royal dress to this theme? Will we even dress up at all? Will the world come to a dramatic stop if us Royals cannot find an outfit to wear? The answers to this question may vary for each individual, but hopefully this article can help Royals to customize a fab-frat-Friday-football-game fit just for them.
Greek life in college consists of two categories: sororities and fraternities. A frat, more formally known as a Fraternity, is an all-male philanthropy group which usually provides housing for their members. Sororities are very similar; however, they are all-female associations. While the first frat was formed in 1775, I think modern day fraternities have shifted in motives and in actions. The common stereotype for a frat guy is loud, messy and annoying, but let’s talk about the elephant in the room. What is the perfect frat outfit? According to Rosary Alumna Isabella Montano ‘24, all Baylor University frat guys wear very similar outfits: “They all are copy-paste! Short khaki shorts, a BU golf shirt, dad sunglasses, and sometimes a hat when they need a haircut.” There you have it folks: straight from a college student, the current frat outfit consists of a lot of khaki and athletic polos, which you can get at any local Walmart or Target.

Although the idea of dressing up sounds fun, it can be pretty scary to dress like a college boy in front of many parents and peers; however, Servite is counting on us to show up and show out. Whether it’s just wearing a baseball cap or pulling up in a full college frat fit, just showing support can show our care for our Servite brothers. When asked if Royals should participate, one of Servite’s priory leaders, Servite’s Jack Wright ‘26 shares, “Yes, of course they should. There is no reason not to; the more dressed up, the better. It’s the best theme of the year, so why wouldn’t the Royals want to join in the fun?” Well, Jack, personally, I think the best theme would be Christmas, but that might just be me. Anyways, Servite football would love the Royals’ support, and who doesn’t want to dress up as a frat boy for a night? The outfit sounds quite comfy to me!
Some of our Royals are extremely excited to show their school spirit for this Friday’s game! When asked about what she is wearing, Rosary Sophomore Kate Kimble shares, “I honestly don’t know, but I am going ALL OUT. I am thinking of even drawing a fake mustache on my face and getting a wig from Target to make it really believable.” Love to see your spirit, Kate. Hopefully, our Royals will not let the fears of dressing up get to them over the fun of Friday football frat night. Whether you dress out or not, I hope to see you at the game to support our Friar brothers as they play against St. Paul.
