While being in the middle of football season, it’s time see what the cheer and dance girls are really thinking about during the football games. During the game, the spirit squad is focused on what cheers to call next, the halftime and quarter break routines and making sure a football player doesn’t come towards them in the middle of a play. Since they stand there for about two hours, they still have plenty of time to think about the most random things. A few Royals on the cheer and dance teams have share their thoughts during the football games below.

Cheerleader Charlie Roman ’27 has questions about the game and wonders why all football players play the game the same way. She states, “When they get the ball and start running away, why do they run down the middle? Can’t they just run around?” I think many people have questioned this, too.
Dance team member Alexis Perez ’27 shares her extraordinary thoughts while she is cheering at the football game: “They’re out there tackling and we’re over here just casually defying gravity.”
After a long game, many girls on the cheer and dance teams will grab a bite to eat and hang out with their friends from Rosary and Servite. Students across California know that the best food after a game is a burger from In-N-Out.

Alumna Claire Heideman ’24 reflects back on the time she was on the cheer team at Rosary. She explains what her thoughts were during the game: “I remember thinking how happy I was to be with all my friends doing what I loved and loving the feeling of preforming, but also remember counting down the minutes till I got to feast on some In-N -Out, drink a nice, big, fat crisp Diet Coke, and take off my eyelashes.”
The next football game is this Friday, Sept. 26 against St. Paul. Come support the Royals who are cheering at the game!
