While there are many great amusement parks in Southern CA, one of the best is Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park. This Cedar Fair amusement park, which originally started as a roadside berry stand created by Walter Knott, is a favorite of many people, primarily beloved for its family-friendly atmosphere and thrilling rides.
While visiting on Sept. 8, visitors to the park might have been zooming by on “Silver Bullet” or visiting the Peanuts gang, they may have also noticed some Royals and Friars making their way around the park. The Rosary and Servite Class of 2027 went to Knott’s to celebrate their entrance into their upperclassmen and upperclasswomen years, and everyone had a great time bonding and getting to know their fellow brothers and sisters, one roller coaster at a time.
With over 40 thrilling rides to choose from, there is an attraction for everyone at Knott’s. If younger visitors are looking for a place to enjoy the park at their own pace, they can go to Camp Snoopy, a Peanuts-themed area that includes rides like “Linus Launcher” and “Charlie Brown’s Kite Flyer.” If graduates of Camp Snoopy are in search of a place to level up their Knott’s experience, they can visit Fiesta Village, which contains attractions like “Jaguar!” and “Montezooma’s Revenge.” Royals were able to find their new favorite rides as well as return to their old favorites.
Elizabeth Vadkerti ‘27, a frequent visitor at Knott’s, was able to revisit her old favorite ride and discover new ones too. “My favorite ride at Knott’s Berry Farm was ‘Silver Bullet.’ My favorite ride did not change yesterday, but I did try the ‘Sierra Sidewinder’, which was fun too,” Vadkerti said, “I also liked going on the Calico River Rapids with my friends.” While revisiting old rides was fun, Royals discovering new rides with their special group of friends made the Knott’s trip even more memorable.
Although many Royals have established friend groups throughout their time at Rosary, this special day at Knott’s was a chance for them to get to know their friends even better. Kylie Kennedy ‘27 had a great time at the park with her friends, and she was able to learn things about her friends that she did not know before. “Through this bonding experience with my sisters, I was able to talk to individuals that I do not cross paths with as well as learn about which of my peers love rides and which do not,” Kennedy says, “As I am not a ride person, it was great finding other people to confide in with this same experience.” One of the great things about the Rosary sisterhood is finding comfort in shared experiences. Whether it be disliking roller coasters or going through difficult times, Royals are always there to support their fellow sisters.

Junior year is known by many to be the toughest year in students’ high school careers. Students can quickly get stressed out, and because of this, days off of school are always appreciated. The trip to Knott’s was also a great way to take Royals’ minds off of school and to let them have a worry-free day to relax with their friends. Elvyra Aguilar ‘27 was in need of a day without work and was very excited to spend time at Knott’s Berry Farm. “The Knott’s Berry Farm trip helped me to get closer with my friends and also gave me the opportunity to spend some much-needed free time to destress with them.” While riding on roller coasters was a fun way to destress, many Royals found that unwinding together is the best cure for anxiety.
Juniors have a lot to look forward to from this point on: the Junior Retreat later in Sept., Rosary Day the first week of Oct., little sister reunions and being upperclasswomen and role models. Among all of these things, the trip to Knott’s will always remain a special day that Royals will remember for years to come.
