This past Wed., we celebrated all the fall sports during the rally. The rally featured the five fall sports: volleyball, flag football, cross country, tennis and golf. We also recognized triathlon, a year-round sport. Although Rosary has a great selection of sports, it got me thinking of new sports Rosary could have. Whether they are sports we have seen in the movies or in the Olympics, there a lot of options for potential additions.
1.Quidditch
As you have most likely seen in “Harry Potter,” Quidditch consists of throwing a ball in hoops while avoiding obstacles, all while playing on flying broomsticks. Although this would probably have to be played on the ground, it would be interesting to see what strategies Royals come up with.

2. Surfing
Since we are in Southern California and close to the beaches, this would be the perfect sport to add! Many Royals could learn how to surf and try new tricks. Alexa Padilla ‘28 shares, “I think surfing would be so much fun because you’d get to go to the beach all the time and I’d be tan.” This would definitely be a popular sport to sign up for!
3. Skiing & Snowboarding

Since we have several sports that frequent the beach, we need some time to go to the mountains. Even though there is limited snow, many students would enjoy a ski and snowboard sport. Whether someone is skiing or snowboarding, it would be fun to see some tricks or jumps on the snow.
4. Table Tennis
Whether we have played it with our friends or seen it on “Love Island,” we are familiar with table tennis. This could be a fun sport for many people to join with their friends and meet new people. I think this would be very popular and a lot of fun for students.
5. Darts

Most of us have probably played darts from Game Pigeon, but what if we had it at school? Darts is a common game, but could be more exciting in a different setting. Some of us could enjoy it to practice new skills and learn a new activity. It would definitely add some contrast to our sports and practice how good our aim is!
6. Rowing
While we are adding water sports, have you ever imagined yourself rowing down the river? Rowing definitely takes a lot of strength and has a lot to offer. One Royal, Gianna Sorensen ‘26 already competes in rowing, and adds, “If rowing was at Rosary, I think there would be a lot of girls who could try something new that’s very unique and unlock a new strength they never thought they would have!” I agree and think it would be a great sport that has a lot to offer.

7. Break Dancing
I think break dancing would fit right in at Rosary and would be a great addition to our spontaneous karaoke sessions. Break dancing would put on good dance competitions between students and show off some cool moves. Peyton Saunooke ‘27 adds, “If we had break dancing, I would amaze the entire school with my worm.” This is definitely a move I would like to see happen!

These are just some examples of some of the great sports out there, so comment what sports you think would be a fun addition to Rosary!
