The weekend before the first week of school, the band The Lumineers held a concert at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California. Many of our current and alumnae Royals attended with family and friends over the two tour dates.
Was it just a coincidence that so many of Rosary’s Royals were there? Was there a discreet email sent by Mr. Basford for a top-secret meeting at the concert? Although we may never know, we were able to ask a few individuals about their musical excursions and experiences.
It seems that many Royals grew up listening to the Lumineers and want to revisit that nostalgic vibe from their childhood. Two seniors, Olivia O’Day and Siena Ruszak, had an extreme throwback moment when listening to their favorite song, “Stubborn Love.” Ruszak additionally shared her personal rating from the concert: “It was an absolute ten out of ten. I’ve seen The Lumineers three or four times now, and they always remind me of the bittersweetness of getting older and how lucky we are to be where we are.” Wow, four concerts of the same artist… someone tell The Lumineers, I think we found one of their super fans!

Current students were not the only ones at the concert; multiple Rosary alumnae had their own dazzling experiences from the musical event. Maddy Hayward ‘23 attended the show with her father and sister, sharing, “My favorite song, and overall performance of the night, was, of course, ‘Big Parade’ cause duh. Each member of the band sang a verse, making the song so much more special.” Maybe next concert, Maddy will join the band on stage for her own rendition of the set list. 2025 graduates Daleah Cardenas and Annalise Adamsen also attended the event and posted photos on their Instagram accounts.
The Lumineers concert was a true blast from the past for several of our Royals, who were able to laugh, cry, sing, and reminisce on the good times before this new and upcoming school year. What a great way to end the summer—some super songs with our sisters. Hope to see you all at their next concert!
