Last Saturday, the Rosary and Servite students came together for the annual Welcome Back Dance. The theme was Pajama Jam, so all the students arrived in a variety of pajamas, comfortable and ready to dance. Upon entry, each student received a ticket for free Kona Ice which was enjoyed throughout the night. When not waiting in line for a snow cone, the students made their way to the Karcher Center where a DJ blasted popular music that the students danced and sang along to.
Another activity for students to enjoy were games such as corn hole and giant connect four. The Rosary and Servite students could be found spread throughout Rosary Academy doing these activities while meeting new people and making memories to last. Junior Olivia Perez shared her highlights of the evening, “The Welcome Back Dance was an awesome opportunity to see all my friends outside of school and also get the chance to bond with our Servite brothers. Overall, it was so much fun, and I had a great time dancing with my friends.” This dance was a bonding experience for many and a fun way to meet others.
It wouldn’t be a dance if songs such as “Cha Cha Slide” and “Cotton Eye Joe” weren’t played so when the popular songs came on the students were quick to dance by following the words of the song. The room was filled with dim, colorful lights accompanied by the sound of laughter and the singing of students. Everyone had a blast, especially student Sophia Bello ’28, who shared, “It was a cool way to meet others and become friends with new people! I enjoyed dancing and having a fun night, especially after a stressful week of school.” Many can agree with Bello that the Pajama Jam was the best way for all students to relax and not have to think about school for the night.

The dance lasted from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and had no shortage of unforgettable moments. Malia Habash ’29 stated her most memorable moment from the evening, “My favorite part of the dance was when a lot of girls were in a dance circle, and everyone was having fun and dancing.” This was definitely a memorable moment, as everyone was dancing together and having a fun time.
Overall, this year’s Welcome Back Dance was one to remember and a great way to kick off the school year. Students from both Rosary and Servite found this as a way to take a break from school, meet new people and make memories they will have forever.
