As my year on the Royal Reporter comes to an end, I would like to talk about my favorite things from this year. This has been a tough year, but journalism class has definitely helped me to relax and let my imagination run wild. So, journalism class is definitely one of my favorite things from this year. Besides that, here is a list of my favorite memories or events that have happened this school year:
- Favorite school dance: My favorite dance this year was definitely Prom. Every little girl dreams of going to Prom after watching “High School Musical 3.” Having my mom and sister help me get ready, taking cute pictures with my friends and dancing with them, and overall, just having a good time, was for sure a night to remember.
- Favorite Red and Gold memory: My favorite memory from this year would just have to be the night before kickoff. I had all of the Red team over at my house making posters, eating the tons of food, not sleeping at all and taking a video each hour of the night to check in and getting ready for what we had prepared for. I got even closer with one of my best friends and cousin, Addison Hansen ‘26. Although we have been friends for our entire lives, this really made our friendship stronger. Addie stated, “I liked getting to know everyone and making posters with them. Everyone automatically bonded because of how exhausted we all were. I can’t even tell how fast our adrenaline kicked in when we were waiting in the car before decorating our school for the Red & Gold Kickoff. Brigid and I made a video every hour of the night to check in and tell the camera what we did within that hour. I liked how you could see our eyes slowly get sleepier every hour.” I’m really hoping we can experience this again next year, Addie.

First, was getting my first pick-six during the flag football season. All of my friends ran towards me to celebrate the touchdown, especially Demi Totah ‘25. I have learned so much from her and I don’t know what kind of football player I would have been without her guidance throughout the whole season. Second, getting to play in the CIF championship game at the Toyota Center in Ontario. Although we lost, we still had high energy and we never gave up. It was so surreal to play in such a big arena with my amazing teammates.
- Favorite school memory: Although this doesn’t seem like a big memory, it will forever be in my heart forever. And that is when one of my best friends, Lexie Curtis ‘27, got folded into the chair when she sat in the folding chairs during lunch. Lunch was always my favorite part of the day this year. I get to talk with my friends about everything and just debrief. Lexie said, “One day, these new chairs appeared randomly at lunch, those fabric chairs. They became my new favorite thing of the day at lunch. We have a love-hate relationship because they tend to fold on you randomly. So, one day I got folded into it, and I knew that was my last straw.” I love my friends with all my heart.
My Disneyland partner for life, Michaela Watson ’26, and I taking a picture in front of our favorite place on one of our many Disney nights. (Photo Credit: Siena Ruszak ’26) - Favorite after-school memory: A few of my friends and I have Disneyland passes, so when we were all available after school one day, we would just book our reservation and go to Disney for a few hours. Even if we didn’t get on rides, we enjoyed each other’s presence and just the overall vibe of Disney. We like dressing cute to go to Disney and people watching. A sweet treat and cute pictures are all a girl needs at Disneyland.
I wish this year didn’t have to end, so I don’t have to become a senior. I have made so many memories and new friends this year, I don’t even want to think about leaving them next year. See you all in the halls next school year!
