If someone had told me four years ago that I would be graduating from Rosary, I probably wouldn’t have believed them because I was so set on attending a different school. But, God works in mysterious ways, and in the end, I made the best decision I could’ve made in choosing Rosary.
As my four years at Rosary come to an end, I reflect on the significant impact the school has had on me. There are so many things to consider, but one in particular stands out: sisterhood.
Over the past four years, I have crossed paths with many of my peers. And, in all honesty, friendship in high school isn’t always the easiest: people change, times change, emotions change, but in the end, everything is on God’s timing and is part of God’s plan. I truly believe that God knew exactly what I needed as I started my new journey through high school, and I met her the second day of Rosary’s volleyball tryout camp in the summer of 2021.
After that volleyball camp, Melanie Alban ‘25 and I would soon experience so many of our firsts together at Rosary: our first volleyball game together, our first football game, first Homecoming, first Red & Gold, first Rosary Day and so much more. I knew that Melanie and I would stand by each other’s sides through all four years of high school, as if God knew she was exactly what I needed as I entered this new chapter of my life.
Melanie is the only friend who has truly been by my side since my freshman year. As I enter my fourth year of friendship with Melanie, I want to highlight a few qualities I truly admire about her. First: her kind heart. Though she may initially seem serious, she is actually one of the kindest people I know. Secondly, she has an incredible ability to listen; maybe it’s because I talk so much, but I can always count on her to pay attention and provide the best feedback. Thirdly, her strength is something I deeply respect as we have both faced challenges, but her perseverance stands out. Lastly, her fun spirit makes every moment enjoyable—Melanie is always up for anything, which is one of the reasons I have the most fun when I’m around her. These qualities make our friendship meaningful and special.

Now, as we both finish our time at Rosary, our friendship doesn’t end. Having been able to begin my high school career with Melanie and end it with her has truly been a blessing. Melanie will be attending California State University, Fullerton, and I will be attending the University of Oklahoma. This does mean we’ll be 1,337 miles away from each other, but our friendship has no limits.
To Melanie, thank you for being my best friend and for standing by my side these past four years. I can’t wait to travel the world with you and I can’t wait for you to be my future bridesmaid. I love you so much and I am so immensely thankful for you. I hope that one day everyone gets the beautiful experience of having a best friend like you.
Considering this is my last article, I also want to give a quick shoutout to the Royal Reporter and the amazing girls who make up this amazing journalism class! Thank you guys for making every class so entertaining yet still so productive, and for making my job as a copy editor so easy. The Royal Reporter has been a creative outlet for me amongst all the stress of school this past school year, and I truly hope you guys see it the same way. I will truly miss this class, and it has been such a fun experience being a copy editor and your social media manager for this year.
