As we all know, AP Exam season is well on its way. These next two weeks, our Royals will be AP testing either in the LEC or the Karcher Center after months of preparation. During this stressful time, I couldn’t help but reflect on the variety of AP courses that College Board has to offer. Ranging from AP Music Theory to AP Italian, AP Research and AP Calc BC, College Board definitely has at least one class that suits your personal interests. But what if there were others? What would they be? Let’s go over some suggestions for new AP classes:
- AP Dancing
If there is AP Music Theory, why not AP Dancing? I know plenty of students who would enjoy learning about the different types of dances around the world. Whether it be a salsa, tango, tap dance or samba, I can totally imagine a course on learning how to dance!
2. AP Influencer
With the current rise of content creation, there comes a need for learning how to be a professional influencer. In this class, you will learn about PR training, how to maximize engagement on your social media posts and how to advertise products. Listen up, College Board because this is a great idea.
3. AP Culinary 101
One of the most useful skills in life is learning how to cook. Lizzie Larson ‘25 suggested that learning to cook should be an AP class: “I would love to have a cooking class on campus. For the AP exam, you would have to make a beef wellington with a special sauce.” Sounds delicious, Lizzie. I’m sure the AP tasters will have a great time eating all that food!

4. AP Life Skills
Last but not least, we have a suggestion from Mrs. Ward: “I think there should be an AP class on life skills, so the idea of how to run a household. We can learn how to do laundry, cook basic meals, decorate and run a bank account. It would include etiquette, like how to address people and set up a table, for example. Even sowing a button or maintaining a car would be included.” That’s a really great idea. I never thought about how much we need to know in order to simply live and maintain a home.
Overall, it seems that we have a lot of great suggestions for College Board. I hope that in these coming years, we see a few of these appear in our Rosary curriculum. Let us know what AP classes you think there should be!
