Junior Matilda Simmons is a talented, lively student here at Rosary Academy. When not in the classroom or hanging out with friends, she spends her time at Servite High School as an active member of Trinitas Arts Conservatory.
Matilda has been doing theatre since she was in second grade when she began participating in musicals at her school. She shared, “I really don’t remember why I first did musicals, but I think it was because my brother and sister had been doing it their whole lives and my mom was in charge of costuming, so I didn’t really have a choice.”
One of the things she loves most about Trinitas is the close-knit community. She has met some of her best friends through theatre and she enjoys spending time with them during tech week and rehearsals. She has been a part of nine Trinitas shows with her favorite being “Peter and the Starcatcher.” She added, “I’ve never had more fun performing on stage and this was my favorite role I’ve ever played as well. Our cast was super close and I truly had fun while acting. I wish I could do this show and role like 100 times again.”

When asked for advice for students interested in joining Trinitas, Matilda had wise words. She explained that they should totally go for it with no fear. While one may be scared that they will mess up, she emphasizes that there is no reason to worry. After all, they never know how they’re going to like it.
In the near future, Matilda plans to pursue a BA in theatre in college. She wishes to become a director for either a high school or elementary school. She explained, “Even though I don’t want to be on Broadway or in movies, theatre has such a special place in my heart and I want to be around it when I’m older and I want to help kids find the same love I found in theatre.”
We are so proud of Matilda Simmons for all she has accomplished in her theatre career, and we are so excited to see what the future holds for her!
