Oh Red & Gold, the time of season all Royals anxiously wait for every school year. It is a beloved Rosary tradition that has been adored since 1971. Each team works for six weeks non-stop to produce a perfect production. Walking into the midst of this maybe scary or intimidating event to incoming freshmen. This energy does not last long though because freshmen soon see the passion and spirit poured into this awesome event.
All freshmen at Rosary are experiencing their very first Red & Gold. How exciting! Let’s see what some of them have to say about their first Red & Gold:
Freshman Autry Lee is so excited for her first year of Red & Gold. This year, Autry is a Red Racer on drill. She has been practicing endlessly to provide her best performance for her team. Autry expresses, “My experience with Red & Gold has been super fun. I have had a lot of fun learning my drill with all my friends. I am really excited to perform what I have been working on this weekend.” When asked what something surprised her about Red & Gold, she answered, “Something I was not expecting was how fast time goes. When we were getting assigned our teams, I remember thinking, ‘How long is it going to take to learn?’ It took no time, and instead it flew by.”
Noemi Jimenez ’28 has had a similar experience to Autry. Noemi decided to pursue Red choral this year and has been doing extremely well in her category. She has also expanded her social circle. Noemi says, “Red & Gold has been a great time for me to meet new people. Even though I was not put on the same team as some of my friends, it has not stopped me from making new ones. I got to connect with new girls in my freshmen class. I also love watching everyone’s creations come together. I also really love the posters and, of course, the bathrooms.” I can really relate to making new friends through Red & Gold. Noemi goes on to say, “The most surprising thing during Red & Gold was realizing the fun competition against Gold. It was always positive, and I love having friendly competitors.”
Freshman Addison Hoover has also had a great experience this year, but on a different team. Addy decided to step outside her comfort zone and try something she has never tried before, Gold drama: “My Red & Gold experience has been really good so far. I have met many new people through Gold drama that I would never normally talk to.” Addy further states, “Something that surprised me about Red & Gold is how much I love drama. I stepped out of my comfort zone, and it really paid off.”

As you can see, it has been a good Red & Gold season for those who have not yet experienced it. All three girls are so excited to be able to perform this weekend for family, friends and others. We hope everyone has had a good Red & Gold experience this year. Let us know how your season has been in the comments!
