During rallies and spirit weeks, you most likely have seen the colorful posters or flyers hanging on doors and walls, which are usually made by students in ASB! Every Monday and Wednesday ASB meets in the assembly hall to plan activities and organize events for the school year. All in all, ASB is a great way to get involved at Rosary and gain important leadership skills in high school. ASB has many different positions available for everybody to run for; if you are not sure if you want to be a part of next year’s ASB, I promise you that there is a position for you.
The first important deadline for anyone who is interested in applying for ASB is March 14, in which the statement of intent is due. Then, there are separate deadlines depending on which position you want to apply for. For example, Ms. La Bonte ‘09 states, “The 2025-2026 Executive Elections, Class Officer Elections, and Cabinet interviews will begin on March 24.” Those who run for cabinet positions and/or class officer positions will also be expected to give speeches to their peers on a designated date. In additon, being in ASB requires ASB officers and class presidents to maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0, and all other class and cabinet officers need to maintain at least a 2.5.
Also, being a part of ASB makes members ineligible to be Red & Gold captains, but if you are the Social Chair, you will be a part of the White Team. One of the ASB social chairs, Sophia Aquino ‘25 says she loves “making amazing connections with the other White Team members and members of both Red and Gold teams.”
Leadership is useful in every career and part of life, and ASB is a great way to get started. By planning events and hosting spirit weeks, students are able to learn new skills while working with their friends. Thus, do not forget to apply for ASB soon before the deadline next week. You must apply by the deadline to be considered: as a leadership program, it is crucial to be responsible. We hope to see you apart of ASB next year!
