As Red & Gold gets closer by the day, have you ever wondered what Red & Gold looked like through the eyes of a Servite Friar? While we see it as an opportunity to build friendships and get out of our comfort zones, some misguided Friars believe it is unusual and strange. I mean we can’t blame them since we take over their school for a whole weekend. The endless glitter on the gym floor and the smell of hairspray that is permanently soaked into the pit walls has got to be of concern to them. But besides that, let’s get into the reason why you’re reading this article. Here is what Servite students think Red and Gold is:
Freshman Tripp Gomes said something that we would have never thought about. He stated, “I believe it is a musical between two colors that are the Rosary colors. Call it High School Musical at that point. I would for sure be on props.” Honestly, I think calling it similar to High School Musical is the best way to describe it.
Jaime Garcia ‘27 was very excited to answer, and he proudly said, “I think that Red & Gold is a dance-off between two colors and the winner gets bragging rights. I would also be specifically on Red dance. One, because it’s my favorite color, and two, it’s because I’m Brazilian so I would be the best dancer there. I just think it’s kind of weird how you guys only put this all together in one month.” Guess we can catch him on the Servite stage. A petition to get him into the show starts now.

Lastly, Junior Jake Susank ‘26 told us how he really felt. Here is what he said: “I think Red and Gold is a performance to show off all talents. If I were to be in it, I would be in drill because I could see myself flying through the air, stunting and showing off my true colors and talents.” I can totally see Jake flying in the air while being in a very hard drill.
Rosary Royal Grecia Garcia ‘27 stated, “I would love to see Servite put on a Red and Gold show. It would be the most chaotic thing I have ever seen. It would be very entertaining.” We should try and make this happen just for you, Grecia.
Wow, I’m honestly impressed. These guys answered it almost all correctly, besides Jaime (you’ll get in next time, no worries). I bet we all agree with Grecia and would love to see the Servite students try to pull together a full Red and Gold production. I can’t wait to see everyone’s full shows next week!
