Being a senior, this year will be my fourth year being a part of Red & Gold; as my final days having this amazing experience are fast-approaching, I couldn’t help but reflect on my personal favorite Red & Gold highlights:
My freshman year, I was on the Gold team, but I still haven’t forgotten Red team’s pirate dance. Being one my absolute favorite dances over the past three years, I still remember how impressive the dance (and costumes) were. Even though Red did an amazing job with drama, nothing compared to Kolina Janji’s ‘23 French character, who definitely made the 2022 Gold show one of the funniest shows I’ve seen. Another 2022 Red & Gold highlight has to be Gold’s choral, specifically their performance of “Popular,” which was truly amazing.
My sophomore year, I was on Red team. I still remember Tahlia Jain ‘26 playing a robber on Gold, which was absolutely hilarious. On her experience, Tahlia shares, “Being the robber was super fun. I got to do somersaults, costume changes and cameo in a dance. It was fun being a funny character.” I have to say my favorite drill so far has to be Gold’s “I Love Rock ’n’ Roll” drill. Sami DiCrisi ‘26 talked about her experience being in that drill: “I thought it was really fun. I really liked our drill captain, Layla Langrell ‘23 because she was so spirited, it made me excited to be a part of Red & Gold, and I found the love for it I have now.” The costumes, stunts and choreography were all spectacular. Of course, seeing Isabela Gutierrez ‘23 dressing up as Elvis Presley was another unforgettable moment. This was also the year of my favorite fashion outfit: Red dance’s sailor costumes.

Once again, I was on Red team my junior year. Even though this was my first loss, it was definitely my favorite Red & Gold. Some specific memories I have were of Mallory Majorca-Ye’s ’24 hip-hop-themed dance. I distinctly remember us all watching these dancers behind the curtains, stomping and cheering along with them as we awaited finale. Of course, I also cannot forget to mention Sabrina Martin’s ‘25 phenomenal job playing JoshBrad on Red team: “It was a lot of fun, and it was my first time being in Red & Gold, so the fact that I was able to be so influential was so amazing.” On Gold team, my friend Celine Asido ‘25 pulled off an astounding choral, one that’s for sure going in the books. Last but not least, Paloma Borsari ‘24, who was also on Gold, danced to a remix of “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy,” making an unforgettable performance that I’d honestly pay to see again for the first time.
Overall, it is undeniable how impressive Red & Gold can really be. Seeing our fashionistas, dancers, actors and choreographers creating such admirable work truly shows the capabilities of our fellow Royals. There were so many aspects of these past performances that I will remember for years to come, and I cannot wait to see what this year will bring.
