Rosary students who have accumulated over 100 service hours over the last 12 months should apply for the President’s Service Volunteer Award. Applications are due to Mrs. Moore in the Counseling office on Friday, Feb. 28 by 3 p.m. Service at any organization can count toward this application.
According to Mrs. Moore, the President’s Volunteer Service Award “is issued by Points of Light Institute and the Corporation for National and Community Service on behalf of the President of the United States to recognize the best in American spirit and to encourage all Americans to improve their communities through volunteer service and civic participation.”
There are three levels of recognition within the award: the Bronze award for 100-174 volunteer hours, the Silver award for 175-249 hours and the Gold award for 250 or more hours.
Junior Giselle Gomez, two-time Gold Service Award winner and 2025 applicant, commented, “I have absolutely loved the Presidential Service Award opportunity. I’ve always been very passionate about volunteer service between my work with Sisters at St. Francis and my work with Holy Family Church. I’ve personally achieved the Gold Service Award for the last two years. To be able to have my work highlighted is truly such a blessing, and I definitely will be applying again this year.”
