From Wednesday, Jan. 29 to Monday, Feb. 3, the Rosary dance team was in Florida for nationals. Led by Coach Burboa, Coach Godfrey and Coach Peach, the girls had an amazing performance. After months of learning intricate choreography, Royals performed on the national stage. Showcasing their talent, teamwork and sportsmanship, the girls were able to pull through the hard competition.
The varsity team competed in the Advanced Varsity Division II section and placed fourth in the jazz and pom competitions. The junior varsity dance team competed in the Advanced Junior Varsity Division II section and placed second in Pom and fifth in jazz. On the team’s impressive performance in the competition, Julia Kathleen ’26 shared, “I am so thankful to be a part of this amazing team. Both teams made it to finals for both pom and jazz. When you make it to finals you get to perform in front of the castle. It was such a surreal experience. Our coaches ended up surprising us with a house for us all to stay in together. I think it really connected us as a team.”
Thrilled to compete with and meet other talented dancers, freshman Lauren Pinner commented on her first Florida trip: “This Florida trip was filled with so many fun memories and so much excitement that I will cherish forever! I am so proud of every single one of my teammates for all of their hard work and dedication. Staying together for a week definitely brought us together and made us all closer. All of our hard work was worth it when we all made it to finals and scored in the top 5 for all of our dances! I am so thankful to be part of this dance team!”
This entire trip was a great accomplishment for Rosary and an amazing team bonding experience for the girls: “It was a great trip; staying in an Air BNB really helped the team bond with each other. It was a lot of fun being so close to each other. The competition was really fun even though our team was mainly rookies. We got second in the nation for junior varsity pom which was really exciting for our team,” exclaimed Madeline Lawrence ’26.
Make sure to congratulate the dance team when you see them in the hallways. Go Royals!
