This Saturday, Feb. 1, Rosary and Servite will be having our annual winter formal dance. It will be held at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach at 100 Aquarium Way, Long Beach, 90802. The dance starts at 7 p.m. and ends at 10 p.m. All attendees must arrive by 8 p.m., and stay until at least 9:30 p.m. Don’t forget to bring your school ID to check into the dance. Small refreshments like brownies, cookies, and cupcakes will be available to all students. Students can also walk around and explore all of the animal exhibits upstairs. “Winter formal is a lot of fun because it is the last formal dance that underclassmen can attend and it’s a great venue; the aquarium offers fun things to do and see,” says Maggie La Bonte ’09.
Ticket sales started on Jan. 17. Prices are $115 for tickets. They can only be purchased online at https://acpas.ticketspice.com/shs-wf-2025. All Rosary students are required to add an “R” before their student ID number when purchasing a ticket. Additionally, a physical dance pass is required for non-Rosary or Servite students. The dance pass was due by Jan. 29 in the activities office; if you did not turn in your dance pass by the deadline, your guest can not attend Winter Formal!
Finally, the dance is formal and all Rosary students are expected to follow the dress code. Dresses must be floor-length and cannot have low necklines. Students cannot show their midriffs and dresses cannot be backless, transparent or have high slits. In terms of footwear, flip-flops and slides are not allowed. Moreover, no undergarments of any kind can be shown at any point during the dance. All necklines, backlines, and slits must be modest. Hair must be “well-groomed” and neat for all students. Students can also wear jumpsuits or pantsuits. Additionally, it will be cold on Saturday, so you may want to bring a sweater! All in all, many Royals enjoy attending the annual winter formal. On last year’s winter formal, junior Ava Graham says, “the dance was fun and it was a great excuse to hang out with and dance with your friends.”
Any failure to follow all rules (including dress code) will result in a detention, and the student will be asked to leave the dance. For any further questions, be sure to go to the activities office or email Ms. La Bonte ’09 at [email protected].
