Red and Gold season has officially started! This past Friday we had Kick Off where students learned what color they were on, the Red and Gold theme and the mascots. ASB and Red and Gold captains stayed up all night to help prepare for Kick Off!
This year’s White team Sailors were seniors, Marissa Valencia, Malia Sims, Sophia Aquino, Jolie Gonzalez, Nikki Green and junior Gianna Sorensen. “Being on White Team my senior year has always been a dream of mine since freshmen year, and I am so excited to spend it with my amazing White Team Sailors. I can’t wait to see how both teams shape out in March, and I’m looking forward to joining both teams in their finales!” exclaimed Valencia.
The White Sailors got to reveal this years’ Red and Gold theme, “The Silver Lining”. The Silver Lining is seeing a positive outlook on scenarios that at first may seem bad. This theme had the script writers busy the break perfecting the scripts for both teams!
On Kick Off morning, captains got to Rosary at 5 a.m. to decorate the school. Red team’s pub theme was games, and you could see iconic games like Uno, Monopoly and Hedbanz. Kate Bowen ’25 shared her thoughts on being a Red fashion captain for another year: “I love being involved in anything. Being able to design two looks and prepare for Kick Off/Red and Gold season is amazing. I am so excited to see all my choral girlies shine on stage in gorgeous outfits and blow away the crowds with their singing.”
Gold’s pub theme was carnival, and we got to see posters of the circus, rings of fire and delicious carnival snacks. Leanna Garcia ’27 shared her thoughts on being a captain for the first time: “Being a captain is a lot of fun and it’s also a lot of a work, I do think it helps me build my responsibility and organization skills and communication skills as well. I can’t wait to see the girls dance in the outfits that my partner and I picked out! I’m so excited for Red and Gold.”
As Red and Gold flex starts this week, we wish the best to both teams! Everyone here at the Royal Reporter hopes this Red and Gold is filled with fun and hopes each girl enjoys it. Happy Red and Gold season!
