Happy Catholic Schools Week, Royals! This week, we will spend each day celebrating a different aspect that makes our school, and other Catholic schools, so great. For those who aren’t familar with Catholic Schools Week, this week is a time to thank those who make up our community and take time to appreciate the opportunity we have to attend a Catholic school like Rosary Academy.
This week, we will also have a chance to donate to our local fire departments that are battling the fires in Los Angeles. Ms. La Bonte ’09 sums up the reason we’re doing this donation drive perfectly: “This donation drive aligns with our charism of serving the dear neighbor and, as Catholics, we’re always called to serve those who are less fortunate which is a part of living out our faith. As a Catholic school, we should do that everyday and celebrate the fact that we’re able to live out our faith and talk about our faith in a school setting which not everyone gets to do.”
Monday: Celebrating the Community
There will be a collection of snacks in order to create snack baskets for local fire and police departments who are currently battling the fires in Los Angeles. Donations for the snack basket will be collected through Wednesday and can be brought to Rooms 8 and 9. There is also a thank you card that can be signed during lunch to give to our first responders.
Tuesday: Celebrating our Students
Tuesday is all about us! Make sure to stop by the quad at lunch for a sweet treat to get you through the day.
Wednesday: Celebrating the Nation
All students may wear jeans (seniors may wear solid black leggings) with a red, white or blue shirt. We should take time on this day to think of and honor all our local and national leaders.
Thursday: Celebrating Vocations
Stop by the quad at lunch to write a thank you card to Fr. Ian to thank him for all he does for the school. Take time to also thank the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange and remember the charism that they teach us to live out every day.
Friday: Celebrating Faculty, Staff, & Volunteers
This day is all about our amazing faculty and staff here at Rosary! Take some time to thank your teachers for the sacrifices they make for us students. All students may also wear jeans (seniors may wear solid black leggings) and a shirt in their team color: Red or Gold.
Throughout the week a Kickball tournament will be happening each day at lunch between grade levels with the winning class competing against the faculty-staff team on Friday. When asked how she’s feeling about competing in the Kickball tournament, Ms. Sutcliffe responded, “I’m pumped! I think it’s going to be really fun and I think it’s a great way to bring the school and community together.” What an exciting way to end Catholic Schools Week.
Have fun this week, Royals, and make sure to keep all the members of our community in our thoughts and prayers as we celebrate Catholic Schools Week.
